Expect to Install SWG Spring 2012

Sounds good to me :) I just wanted you to be aware of some of the possible issues with SWCG use. I think you'll end up loving the unit and be well pleased with it's performance :goodjob: (Just keep an eye on the metal in and around the pool  )

Expect to Install SWG Spring 2012

Welcome to TFP!! Have you done reading here on the pros and cons of SWCGs? If not, let me tell you a couple things to consider. 1) like Bama and Blake mentioned a cell that can 'handle' a 40,000 gallon pool will need to run ~ 24/7 to produce enough chlorine to do so (IMS {if memory serves} one...

    Help! Pool turned green overnight

I tried to find the post where Richard (chemgeek) gave the graphs that show that, with even nominal amounts of CYA in the water the pH effect on chlorine's efficacy is reduced to ~ 0. IIRC, it's just another side effect of the chlorine/ cya bond. [are you out there, Richard? - I know I'm not...

    New Pool First Salt Question

Like I said, you can use it - it's be best to use it in the beginning of the season when the other levels are low, so that when all the other levels rise, you don't need to compensate 8-)

Question for Aquarite owners - Superchlorine mode

Sorry for the delay :( You put on Super for a day then, after 24 hours switch it back to Auto (unless you want to 'boost' it again) One quick point, why ever use the Super mode????? If you need to shock the pool, it's quicker and less expensive to add bleach 8-) Chieif, I don't know ...

How to test SWG before replacing cell

If you can get the current measurements and know what they ought be, it'd be a good indicator of the cell's condition. Failing that, you can fill a 5 gal. bucket with pool water and submerge the cell in it, and trick the flow sensor into thinking there is flow and look for hydrogen bubbles and...

    New Pool First Salt Question

You can add it. The trouble is that it's a 'adjust all' for salt pools so you may end up raising you borites AND the salt AND the pH AND the calcium AND the cya  IMHO it's best not to use the 'miracle - all in one' products! Add only what you need to increase whichever parameter you...

    AquaRite Reading 0 ppm salt

Welcome to TFP!! A nearby lightning strike (which could cause a power outage) could cause one of your sensitive pieces of hardware to 'freak out' and no longer 'play nice'. Try turning off the power to it for ~ 1 min. and see if it comes back on line. If it doesn't - call in the service...

NO power light or chlorine generating!! Please help!!

Chris, welcome to TFP!! Can you tell me what the display reads on your unit? Is the power on LED lit? Make sure there is power to the unit, all the plugs plugged in, and no breaks in the cords. If it still gives you problems I can walk you trough the diagnostics (on page 14 of your owners...

    Cleaning a SWG Cell

Thank you for reminding folks that the cell doesn't need to be cleaned every 3 months (it does need to be cleaned when it develops scale!) If you follow the suggested chem levels in Pool School for SWCGs, you shouldn't have to acid clean the cell :)

    T-15 Cell with Aqualite

Thank you for the #s :goodjob: If you're showing -1100 as the instant, your unit thinks there isn't enough salt and will balk on generating :( Have you visually inspected the cell?

    T-15 Cell with Aqualite

Welcome to TFP - THANK YOU for supporting the site!! :goodjob: The reading of 2600 is the default setting - check the instant salinity by pressing the little black diagnostic button 5X it will show a number with a "-" infront of it- that number is you current salinity. Any chance you could...

Vinyl Liner SWG Startup - Salt Damage

If it's too hot on the deck, hop in the pool :) I'd hold off on adding more salt until your SWCG is up and running, so that you can be sure that you haven't added too much for it to run 8-) Please keep us posted as to your progress

Vinyl Liner SWG Startup - Salt Damage

Welcome to TFP!! The salt shouldn't harm the liner but, just to be safe, I always walked it around the pool (~ 20' per bag). I'd Place 3, or so, bags at ~25' intervals around the pool then open and 'dump' the top bag from the first pile, open and 'dump' the top bag from the second pile...- sure...

Salt reads 2300, actual salt is 3000, but cell is good?

Welcome to TFP!! I don't disagree with Jason (because he's right). The cells can test up to +/- 500 ppm and the salt tests IIRC are +/- 200 ppm. If the cell is good, add salt to keep it happy and generating - the cell won't produce if it 'thinks' the salt is too low! If your test is ~1500 ppm...

Aqua Logic Board is only reading "high salt"

Welcome to TFP!! Have you tested the salt to be sure it isn't too high? If you have and the salt isn't too high, we'll help you figure out the issue.

    'No flow' light illuminated--possible fixes?

Welcome to TFP!! Check the gray 'phone cord' that plugs into the bottom of the control box. I've seen a LOT of them get weed whacked. Let us know what you find and we'll advise further :)

    Ph climbing

With only 2 returns, you're going to see the hydrogen bubbles from the SWCG coming out of the returns. The concentration of the bubbles will tend to raise the pH. Muriatic acid will soon become your good friend  As you get used to how your pool chemistry now works, you'll find that you need...

    AquaTrol & 27'x52" pool?

Welcome to TFP!! Thanks for supporting the site (check out the VIP Lounge) :goodjob: If you don't mind supplementing with bleach on the worst days, you could get by with the Aqua-Trol. A solar cover would also lessen the load on the unit.

Aqua Rite Salt reading varies from test reading

Yes, but it only works for the first cycle, so would be useless for you. (you can't 'recalibrate' the unit :( )
  26. W

Aqua Rite Salt reading varies from test reading

Welcome to TFP!! How old is the unit? As long as the test strips are reading 2800 while the unit reports 3600, you are fine. The units have a margin of error of ~ +/- 500, which gets worse over time but will produce chlorine as long as the salt is above 2600. Have you visually inspected the...

    HELP! Hayward Chlorinator Replacement

Welcome to TFP!! Do as Bama suggested in unscrewing the union between the chlorinator and the filter. See if you can find a SP 1500 Un-Pak (a 1/2 union that will fit over the threads that the 1.5" M/A is currently screwed into.) You might need to couple a small piece of pipe to extend the...

Aqua-Rite flow sensor not working again!

This works, but only for 100 minutes (1 cycle) :( It will trick the unit into producing, but there is something else wrong and you might be harming the unit by overdoing this trick  If the unit thinks the salt is low and you add some and want it to produce, this trick is great - but it...

Aqua-Rite flow sensor not working again!

Welcome to TFP!! Is your flow switch within 1' of a pipe elbow? (they can be balky if they don't have a n even flow and elbows tend to 'churn' the water near them). Deb, If the water doesn't gush out of the sensor hole when the pump is on, you've got a flow issue (clogged pipe, pump or filter)...

    hayward chlorinator

James gave a great and straight forward answer :goodjob: Do you have the CL 200 (in-line) or the CL 220 (attached by black hoses)? Try turning the dial all the way up and then back to 0 again a few times - you ought be able to hear the water flowing in after shutting it all the way off then...
