Is a bubble cover or other cover between swims best way to keep debris out. Also, vacuum recommendations. Intex 32 x 16 pool.

A solar / bubble cover will keep a lot of debris out of your pool. Until you take it off, and then it all falls into your pool - but you can then skim it by hand. They can be a bit of a pain to take off and put on, but I think they are worth it.

Corrosion on exterior wall bottom on Saltwater 8k pool?

I read that and was amazed that the pool store had a geological analysis lab and geologist on staff. There are rocks that CAN be acidic. Or more accurately, as water runs over them they leach out minerals that will reduce the pH of that water. There are rocks that will do the opposite as well...

That is what I was going for in my description. Make a solid base, it should be flat and level. Put a french drain system with the proper fall around it.

A chemical dispenser uses pucks or sticks to add chlorine to your water, you don't want that. Here is the 30 second overview of pools and chlorine. 1) Pools need chlorine. It sanitizes the water. 2) You can get chlorine into a pool in a number of ways - Using solid chlorine (called dichlor...

Houston, we have a problem! Am I screwed?

Looking at #4, do you have gravel on BOTH sides of the track? Where is your cove (sand or foam)? That is not right. Normally I would say *maybe* you can get it back together without replacing the liner, you could try but the liner has a good chance tearing. But not with #4 in the mix. It...

Help cleaning pump basket without flooding

Those aqualuminators are a pain in the rear. It is very much a case of the juice not being worth the squeeze. Here is what you will have to do. Get the expandable rubber plug designed for winterizing the aqualuminator. Hopefully the previous owner left you one. If not, you will need to get...

Help cleaning pump basket without flooding

Not with an Aqualuminator in place you cant. As somebody who tried - really tried - to use one for three seasons, my advice is to take it out, throw it as far as possible, install a normal return, and never look back. The design of them is horrible when it comes to trying to plug and/or...

Planning plumbing for my above ground pool

The two parts slide together, and then you lock them in place by engaging the camlock on the side. For added security you can put the hairpin through the hole in the cam, so it cannot accidently pop open This is my old setup. I have a new pool and I put the skimmer in a totally different...

    Pool Pad Rainwater Drainage

Crusher run well graded mixture running from stone dust up to 3/4" aggregate. Well graded means there is about an equal amount of all aggregate sizes in between. It packs solid like concrete. It barely drains at all. It also does not wash away, but water is not going to drain through it.

    Pool Pad Rainwater Drainage

If you dig down to undisturbed soil, there is no need to add a base of compacted crusher run, sand will be fine. Dig down, level, add sand. Pavers get set flush with the top of the sand, so they will be recessed into the ground. They will not press into the liner. A cover (sand or foam) has to...

    Pool Pad Rainwater Drainage

3/4" clean (what everyone calls "gravel" in some spots (mainly for drainage in areas you cannot see) 3/8" grey pea gravel in some areas - like under the swing set. 3/8" yellow pea gravel around some trees 2" egg rock around the pool. It is large enough to stay in place, but it nests well. The...

    Pool Pad Rainwater Drainage

It is not recommended to build up the base for an above ground pool because it is not as easy as it sounds. There is a science to compacting fill. A pool is VERY heavy, quite unstable, and needs to be pretty close to level. As a very high level summary, each and every fill has a different...

Planning plumbing for my above ground pool

Also, I would not put the ball valves where you did, in the vertical pipe. When you go to turn the ball valve, you are going to be putting a lateral force on the skimmer basket. I would put the ball valves in the horizontal run on the ground. I also put my horizontal runs on supports (6x6...

Planning plumbing for my above ground pool

When dry fitting, remember that the fittings don't go together as deep as they will when gluing them up. Get good ball valves. Not ones from the big box store. Those tend to wear out and/or break very quickly and are not rebuildable. Leading to having to cut them out and then replumb the...

Tips/Suggestions for patching the bottom of a pool liner (from nut sedge growth)

To be clear, when you fold it in half, the cement is on the inside, that protects it from washing off. Then when you get into the water and into position, you unfold it and stick it in place.

Tips/Suggestions for patching the bottom of a pool liner (from nut sedge growth)

Cut your patch round, not with sharp corners. The corners are where things begin to pull up. Get something heavy that sinks that has a flat or even better slightly rounded bottom to sit on the patch while it cures. You want the weight to push on all of the patch. Outside of the water, coat...

    Bonding and grounding

Bonding is for different potentials, which do not necessary have to come from energized equipment You should have the following: A copper ring around your pool, buried 4-6" in the ground. That ring should be tied into the metal uprights at 4 equal points around the pool. Technically you are...

    Pool stairs

Do you have any issues with them at all when you leave them in? Do they move, or get frozen in place? I would love to leave mine in, but I worry about the pool freezing around the top if them, and then the ice shifting and dragging them along the liner.

    Steps for above ground pool

It must be stairs season. This is about the 4th time I have posted this picture in the last week. This is how I did mine. I did not find a way that I liked to attach the stabilizers to the deck. It left holes, stripped out, or just looked bad. The handrails flex enough that I can squeeze...

    Pool stairs

I have in the pool stairs and a deck. I take mine out when I close (New Jersey). I sometimes move them when I vacuum. If I am in the pool and vacuuming, I am likely to do so. It is really not that easy if I am outside of the pool. Inside the pool I can lift them up a foot or so, hold them...

Cost to remove above ground pool

I just had my ABG replaced. They charged me $100 extra to remove the old pool, bag up all of the plastic parts, and haul away (i.e scrap) all of the steel. It was interesting to see their tool of choice for taking it apart. An axe.
