Intex Sand Filter - MN Winter

I was in Wis with an inground and sand filter where it hit's below zero quite often during the winter. I'd take the drain cap off at the bottom of the filter and let the filter drain and never had a problem. With the bigger filters having a couple hundred pounds of sand and likely being solidly...

    2 week vacation - Float + pucks?

Welcome to TFP Change  How big a pool is it ?? Any chance you have a neighbor or friend you'd trust to do some testing and treating ?? Or even just a simple "blind" addition occasionally based on your past usage ?? That full water testing kit can be very intimidating but having someone...

Solar cover too small, will it still work

You are basically insulating most of the surface from the ambient temperature so you will be saving most of the heat and preventing most of the evaporation. I don't know how to judge if getting that last foot of coverage would be worth the trouble and cost of getting one that's bigger

    2nd test results

When you are over 8 on your pH you really have no idea how high you are. You need to add another 17oz, "stir" for 1/2 hour and test again to see where you're at. It's coming down you just can't read it yet. :calm: You may well have used up the chlorine overnight depending on the condition of...

Any regrets on above ground pool? Round vs oval

Welcome to TFP sloshed  I haven't had an AGP so I can't compare. I would go for oval if you're thinking of swimming for exercise as you'd have a longer path, round if you just want to get wet and stay cool or for the kids to play in. It would also depend on what fits the little sliver of...

    Pump maintenance

To find out if it's the capacitor you might need some help to turn the motor on and when it's humming try to spin the shaft (that's the if you can do it safely part). If it starts up then it is the start capacitor that's bad. That chunk of threaded plastic in the wall is part of the "eyeball"...

15'X48 AGP w/ SWG can't get clean on tight budget

If you take a picture that includes the steps we can get a better idea of the waters condition by being able to use each steps clarity as a reference in judging how clear the water is.

    Bleach

Just my opinion but I think it might be easier on you and safer for both of you if you tested the water often and kept the chlorine up at a proper level. You wouldn't need to keep dumping and refilling and the water would be clean and more importantly safe. You'd need to have the pump and filter...

    Bleach

If it's getting cloudy that could also be a sign the water isn't really something you want to be swimming in. Not concerned with algae but with bacteria. How often do you need to dump the water ?? The reason to test more often is to know the amount of chlorine in your water so you know there is...

Old pool pump.. dead.. new suggestions?

You might not be able to get what you need at a big box store. The selection of 1.5 inch at my local stores is pretty limited and 2" is really hard to find. For the fittings right at the pump they usually are something that are different and proprietary from one manufacturer to another. That's...

Murphy came to swim at my place

I photo shopped it. I have no clue and was laughing my but off. I imagine if you can't dump, flush, fill, filter, spray, transfer or bypass a heater with that setup, it just can't be done.
