    OK Who's Pool is This?

Pretty good assumption that that is Florida!

    Thank you.

    Waterfall wall

Thanks. We were able to repurpose some of the rocks around the yard in the landscape at least.

    Waterfall wall

Thanks. Actually, it was wet from wet-sanding. It is a concrete top I poured with a form I made. Still needs some filling in of holes and some more polishing.

    Waterfall wall

Took out the rock waterfall and added a sheer waterfall wall. Still some finishing touches to do. But happy with the results.

Tell me about your garbage disposal…

We just removed ours. Risk of clogging the pipes. We just throw what little food waste we have in the trash. However, tip for the noise: If you are installing in a stainless steel sink that is thin, it will be loud. It vibrates the sink and reverberates. We installed one in another house...

Speed Queen - The Way of Water

Do those SpeedQueens have mechanical controls or are the dials actually electronic? I thought in the US that washing machines had to have electronic controls to meet the EnergyStar guidelines.

What did you do to your pool today?

Installed a new filter (old one was sand and leaking) and a SWG (IC-60). Waiting for a new pump to come in. Luckily, the previous owner had disconnected the Perma-Salt system and was using liquid chlorine. He was actually a TFPer!

    Let's See Your Test Kit!

If you cut the the little piece of foam in half, it will make your DPD powder bottle sit up higher. Also, the SpeedStir will fit standing up in that space you have it now. This gives you some more room for accessories, like the 10mL/25mL SampleSizer, which also fits standing up.

    Let's See Your Test Kit!

I finally bit the bullet after finding a good deal on a Taylor K-2006C-SALT. (Sorry TF-100, I like my bottles vertical!) :) My first kit was a Taylor K-2005 I bought at a pool store before I learned about the FAS-DPD testing. I added a K-1766 salt test kit to that. Then once I learned about the...

Gator on Gator crime on the rise.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the story. Also, James’ comment about difficulty getting on the float also. The screen “may” have been broken or torn for the gator to get in. I still think it’s staged though.

Metal studs for outdoor BBQ island??

There is no reason you cannot use the metal stud as the base. Millions of feet of walls are constructed with the base being metal. You can put a vapor barrier or break where the metal stud contacts the concrete (use tar paper or some sill plate gasket). If you really want to make it bullet...

Metal studs for outdoor BBQ island??

Use the metal studs. Yes they seem "flimsy", but they are engineered to work as a system. Most commercial construction is using them. Once you tie them all together, you will have a great system. You could always go with a heavier gauge or use 2x6's instead of 2x4's. I have seen some of my...

    What's your current pool temp?

Just got our heat pump installed Friday. Turned it on at lunch and by dinner it went from 80 to 87. Next day it got up to 89 (setpoint was 87, so sun warmed it up). Dialed back to 83 which should get us to 85 during the day. We are spoiled down here in Florida!

    What's your current pool temp?

We are in Orlando. Our pool is screened and faces south. We do not have a heater and water temp was 83 today. You should be fine.

    WiFi Pool light switch

I use the MyQ system. I purchased a MyQ hub that plugs into my home computer network. As long as the devices (garage door opener, light switch, laser turret, shields, etc.) are MyQ compatible, they will work with the system. This allows me to operate with a keyfob remote and my phone. I can...

    Let's See Your Test Kit!

A picture like this? This is my K-2005 (I bought before I knew what I needed and before I learned about TFP methods). The K-2005 has a lot of room left over using the .75 oz. bottles. The other picture is the K-2005 with the regents for chlorine swapped out with the K-1515-A FAS-DPD and...

    Let's See Your Test Kit!

Hi. I know this is old, but can you post a pic of the 2006C kit from above? I wanted to know how much leftover room is in there. Thank you.

Need some expertise when it comes to baby/child and pool ownership?

We started swim lessons for our son at about 18 months. Where we lived did not have a pool. Basic items were learned, but no real survival skills. We then moved and didn’t start again until about 3 years old. After 10 (15 min.) lessons he was swimming from middle of pool to wall under water...
