    Polyquat 60 for Intex pool

We had an Intex for many years and only used it right at start up in case there was some lingering algae from closing and storing. I used only BBB for regular maintenance - perhaps they suggest it if there is an underpowered pump and filter connected to the pool?

    Polyquat 60 for Intex pool

The Walmart stuff is ammonia based - not polyquat. I did see polyquat at Kmart one time - surprise and shocked, pleased too - I bought up all three quart bottles. Now they stock the same as Walmart. I only use polyquat at closing to prevent algae while the winter cover is on. For swimming...

    Green Water from return

You may have to run the backwash/rinse cycle longer or a few more repetitions to clear the sand filter of the dead algae.

Long absence - need your advice please

Also, not sure about your pump but mine has a safety that shuts it down when it starts cavitating - before it burns out anyways. It can't drain any lower than the return if you blow a hose/pipe - this I know first hand (several times!) Even with all the problems I have had, if my temps were...

    Bugs in Pool

Welcome to the forum. I think they can be attracted to the different chemicals we put in there or just a climate issue where there are more floating around to land in the pool. You should see mine from mid-May to the end of June. We litterally have shovel-fulls of Junebugs each morning. Just...

Lot's of pollen/stuff in pool floors?

Not sure but I can tell you that this year is the worst I have ever seen for that. On the flip side, I have never seen our fruit trees with so much fruit, the ornamentals bloomed like mad, etc. Its the climate.

Above Ground Pool and switching to the BBB method

Be careful which of the HTH products you dump in your pool - some of the algaecides include copper or other ingredients that you don't want. Stick with bleach and keep an eye on your ph as well. Stock whatever you may need to bring the PH up or down along with your stock of bleach. For now...

    Poly Quat Question

I don't think it NEEDS to, it just does. The chemical uses some part of the the FC up. It just does. You make an adjustment for that. I believe it is appx 24-48hrs after applying the PQ, that its done doing its deed to your FC level and you make your adjustment from there. The amount of...
