I have this exact problem as well, 3 years in using TFP the whole time, brown stains on pebble. I need to try the vitamin c thing. Mine looks like rust almost. I’m guessing I wasn’t keeping my ph low enough. I’d let it rise up to high 7s and 8 before knocking it down. Trying to stay closer to...
i have the same chlorinator and notice that at 80-83 degrees, i need to run my chlorinator a lot more (same one as yours) or supplement with liquid chlorine. CA weather has been a real roller coaster so now im down to 70-75 degrees and SWG is making WAY more than i needed at 80-83. this is, of...
you could always use distilled or bottled water. you'd be saving drops, but not really on the powder, but of course, youre BLOWING through drops at slam levels.
i HAVE NOT passed on OCLT in that manner. I'll give that a shot - i was using target levels. cell looks great. never get "No Flow". i'll try to make that test happen this weekend and try to pump up the CYA to at least 70. thanks guys.
the swg says its 3.6 or 3.7 and it seems to like it there. I was getting some 3.8 readings early in the summer and it warned me...didn't shut down, just warned me. I haven't checked it with a tester.
so I've had a problem with the chlorinator not producing enough chlorine pretty much since summer started. I cranked it up from 40% for 6 hours in the beginning of the summer to 80% for 12 hours and it still didn't keep up. called jandy and they said it should be doing fine in that its rated...
i always try to test asap the morning after having guests. why wait? of course, im not religious about my testing time (usually try after sunset) but it freaks me out to wonder if i dipped under the minimum with a big swimmer load. one party i jacked up the pool to 7 and had kids swim all day...
its strange that your TA is rising especially for how much acid you are adding. one thing i notice is your Ph goes up FAST and gets really pretty high. you seem to correct it by adding acid but never enough acid to get it into the 7.2 range that is usually suggested to lower TA and then use...
i have that one, it came with my 2005 (high) kit. it kinda leaves some gray area between 3 and 5 which annoys me, but my guesstimates are always within .5 of the FASDPD test.
you DO want to test chlorine - i do every other day to make sure its working properly. your pool is warmer and gets more sun than mine but we have almost the exact same equipment and size of pool.
you shouldnt have to add any. you have pretty much the same setup as me. maybe just toss some in before or after a big party. don't use the boost feature, just toss in some bleach and take it easy on your cell. just set the % so it maintains whatever level you need at whatever amount of time...
oooooooh, hahaha! there was no "0" in the salt column and i have a tendency to read right to left (its a weird habit). Get some CYA and chlorine in that pool stat! LOL!
Thats an interesting point, when having a big party, do people pre-load with a bit more chlorine than they need in general? is that recommended? it makes sense.
Price is $12.99 for 32oz. I got 2oz. for $4.99. they didnt have the 8oz bottles, but i didnt know they made that size so i really didnt look.
Looks like the exact same test, although a post from JasonLion a long time ago said that it uses a different scale, so i guess its a different...
I know its probably not, but it caught my eye with the quantity - since i was in there to just buy a taylor 2.0oz refill of 0013 - this seemed kinda awesome - but the taylor one doesnt say what chemical it is. The blue devil stuff says its Sodium Acetate and Melamine.
I was going to hire someone when i first got on to this site freaking out a bit, now pretty much everything is balanced, other than a >.1/day Ph change i deal with every few days. So i just taught my wife to run the 2 basic tests - Ph and Chlorine. she didn't seem thrilled about it, but i...
if you own a salt pool (which i do) , owning the higher level test seems to make more sense. i was pretty much able to say my water was at 6 (estimation of colors) and confirmed with the FAS/DPD that i was at 5.8.
exactly what i wanted to know! thanks - im focusing on learning what effects what since some levels directly effect other levels and some chemicals effect more than one level at a time. i got into trouble with dichlor not realizing it was jacking up my CYA, not just chlorine - now im off that...
Sorry Jason, i meant NATURALLY. like, is there an OUTSIDE factor that would raise or lower TA...other than fill water? dirt, sunshine, chlorine levels (not natural i know), maybe CYA (getting further away from natural, hahah!)
