    Target Free Chlorine

Been keeping mine a little high as well and it's never done me wrong. In fact it saved me when I realized my SWG was dead after two days of not noticing. A reasonable amount but less than SLAM levels are still totally acceptable and gives you some peace of mind in case something goes wrong...

    Bad DPD Powder?

Thanks, yeah maybe it could have. It was stored in my garage but who knows. Yeah the purple-ish color sort of made me think something was off. I'll toss it and wait for the new stuff to arrive next week.

    Bad DPD Powder?

I think I may have encountered my first issue with a reagent. I noticed when I opened the DPD powder today that it was darker than normal. It is normally lighter/whiter and today it seemed dark and purple. I tried using it but it never really turned the water pink properly and thus was a...

Am I getting Cocky?? Or am I just that good??

You can see in my PoolMath logs as well that I also no longer check my pool as often as I used to. My pool was a new pool I had built so the 1st maybe 2 years I had a little upsy-downsy type stuff as pH and CH sorted themselves out (plaster pool). Now I can spot what the pool needs when it...

    Stabilizer,,Who needs it?

I am not sure if this is a trolling post or not but there are a few things regarding this that I am aware of. 1. You are using test strips which this forum is not going to be proud of you for that as they are unreliable compared to a proper test kit with chemicals. 2. It is my understanding that...

    Pool ph

I don't have any surefire ideas on this one but I had some pretty wild pH/Acid demands earlier this year I solved by lowering my high TA. I was putting in a gallon over a two week period which for me is a lot and then I realized my TA was too high (like 80). I have a salt pool so I put a ton...

2 month old pool using 3 bags of salt per week

Solid, Yes, I never trust the SWG. 3200 is perfectly fine for the SWG. In fact, as long as the "Low Salt" light isn't on on the SWG then you should be fine. Mine starts lighting up at about 2700ppm-ish. Even when it lights up I only use the K-1766 test results to determine how much to add...

    WaterGuru Sense Test v. TF-100

This is good stuff. I may have to pick up one these next year if we see the value here on the forums. I also like to run my chlorine a little higher than the recommended values for those "Just in case" things that might creep up. There absolutely comes a point where it's just wasted chlorine...

    Boatmen and/or backswimmers

I have an occasional backswimmer. I mainly get pill bugs lately (roly poly bugs). I have been and still am fighting an invasion of Springtails although the heat lately has put a big dent in the Springtails (thank god). The pill bugs drown and sink to the bottom and the robot gets them. I...

New SWG, trouble keeping chlorine in pool.

FYI, my SWG is a IC-40 so different but my SWG kicks on about 1500RPM. I have it set to 1700 just for skimmer purposes and to account for various fluctuations that just happen. For you sending those through your solar system on a roof then your pump may need to run higher to account for the...

Dead frog in the pool all day

I usually check the pool every morning before the robot runs just in case I have a new pool friend. I have found a couple of mice, a gopher, a good sized rat, lots of random dead bugs. None of which has impacted my FC significantly. If I see them in the morning, I know they got there sometime...

    Overthinking the DPD powder dose

Marty, That's cool. Had no idea SWG was an option on the app until you said something. Looks like with my IC-40 at 40% running for 9 hours, it will generate 1ppm of FC per day. I have read the same FC for the past couple of tests so I guess I have found the stable mark for this time of year...

    Overthinking the DPD powder dose

Roy, I am filtering from 8a-5p mainly on low speeds but an hour in there at a higher rate. Have the IC40 set at 40% and my FC is about 6-8ppm. The pool builder left it at 50% but my FC was pretty high IMHO (about 10-12ppm) so I ratcheted it back a bit. Still playing with it to dial it in and...

    Pool Math Time Zone Incorrect?

I'll 2nd what Hossy says. When I go to my pool logs in my signature, it shows things in the future when I freshly add things to it. I haven't tested anything in a few days so it shows the past right now, but over the weekend I noticed it just after I added things to it. Was like 8 hours ahead...

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

Thanks again guys for the help with this. I definitely did the CYA test wrong the first time (looked straight down on it and looked really hard for the dot) so I followed your way and my CYA is at 60. Here are the latest results. FC = 5.6 CC = 0 pH = 7.6 CYA = 60 Temp = 53F CSI = -0.80

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

Also just remembered the PB put a couple of pucks in the skimmer. I remember they took a few weeks to dissolve and I didn't add any since. I just found the tub they came in so I checked and it looks like trichlor pucks. I assume that's probably a big source of any CYA?

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

I can try to recheck my CYA as the 80 reading was like 2 weeks ago and my wife did that one. Maybe with the rain and the overflow draining lowered it although very little sunshine in that timespan. Or maybe she misread the results? Will do that tomorrow but I am not sure you usually have to...

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

I am not sure that is the only product he put in it but it's the only thing he left me saying he put that bottle in there and said I may have to just put that in occasionally when CYA get low.

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

Hey guys. Tested my pool for FC and pH today now that it's had some sun. I also cleaned out the pump skimmer basket of a small amount leaves that were in there. FC = 4.0 pH = 7.6 Temp = 53 I also tested my fill water for pH, TA, and CH. Results below. pH = +8.0 (the Taylor colors only go to...

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

Thanks guys! Definitely looking forward to warmer weather here! I will let the pH drift up to the higher range. I planned on using the spa this weekend so maybe that will help aerate the water? Haven't tested my fill water yet actually so maybe this weekend when the weather gets better I can...

Low CSI but I think numbers for tests look reasonable

This is my first post so I apologize for any misses on protocol for asking for help. I just had a pool installed and handed over to me in late December in the San Diego area. It's a ~25k gallon SWG fed pool. It's been chilly here for a while and a rather wet "winter" for this area. I have...
