Pool Math App - Exporting CSV to App

So usually about this time each year I export my prior year testing data from Pool Math to an Excel file. Worked like a charm, as usual. This year I'm trying to take my 2020 CSV file and send it back to populate my Pool Math App. I have the instructions from last year on how to do it; however...

Chlorine Not Dropping On Its Own

Lawtyger.....My chlorine level is finally down....between 5 and 6ppm. I did use about 2.5lbs of Chlorine Neutralizer to drive it down only because we have a connected spa which has been exercised frequently in the last few weeks. I use Hydrogen Peroxide to dilute chlorine when the spa is...

Chlorine Not Dropping On Its Own

PebblePool: I'm using TFP recommendations for CYA ie. 60-80 (See link below), as I have a Salt Water Generator on my pool. I chose the midpoint of 70 for my CYA and have been running at that level for over 4 years with no problems. I just want to understand whether my CYA or some other factor...

Chlorine Not Dropping On Its Own

I experienced a mild case of Mustard Algae around Thanksgiving. I ran the SLAM process which I completed 12/2/16. I've been waiting for my chlorine level to drop on its own; however, I'm not having any quick successes. Here's my test results since the SLAM. 12/1/16 - FC was at 44.5 - It had...

    Borate Drop Test - Failed

Yep, those were the instructions I followed. I also did some pre-reading from this site and found at least one other member had the same issue ie. no detectable change to yellow in step 3. Didn't see any resolution posted. One of my reagents in my Taylor kit is old and I'm hoping that...

    Borate Drop Test - Failed

I tried the Borate drop test today. I had ordered the S-0009 and S-0010 from Amazon to use in conjunction with my Taylor K-2006. So I got to step 3 where you add 5 drops of the S-0009 Bromothymol Blue. The sample should turn yellow. Didn't happen. So then, you continue adding R-0009 drop...

    Cause for CH Increases

I used the sock technique on my last application of CYA, approximately 7.5 ounces. It worked perfectly. No "lumpy" accumulation of "CYA Chunks" in the pump pot. Such a simple approach, yet without this site one might never know causes/resolutions.

    Cause for CH Increases

Thanks guys. Will use the CYA sock technique. Leebo...I check the pump pot no less than 3 times weekly and usually clean it on a weekly basis, if needed. I'm kinda "over the top" when it comes to pool management. Thanks for the feedback.

    Cause for CH Increases

ok...so my last posting of 11/13/13 included pics of white chunks. I was to test with MA to validate calcium. Finally did the other day. I also should mention I pulled more chunks from the pump pot that were larger than those previously posted. They too have the striations and a peculiar...

    Cause for CH Increases

SWG has been spotless during my 60-90 day inspections. I haven't noticed any increase in pump pressure beyond the "norms." No decrease in output from pool inlets either. The only chemical ever added through the skimmer is CYA. I pour in slowly, a little at a time. I will test these "chunks"...

    Cause for CH Increases

Re: Cause for CH Increases - NOV 12, 2013 Addendum I know you guys told me not to worry about my CH in the previous posts. So I haven't. Been keeping my PH and ALK in check along with FC. Have only noticed a few calcium chips(smaller than dime size) appear in the pump pot from time to time...

CYA Differentials, Mine vs. Pool Stoe

As always thanks for the feedback. Re Isaac-1's comments regarding lighting; I test outside under the lanai overhang with sun to my back. Are you suggesting to move into bright sunlight with sun to my back?

CYA Differentials, Mine vs. Pool Stoe

Have been trying to get my CYA up to 70-75. Tested last week using my Taylor K2006. Dot disappeared around 50ppm. Before adding additional stabilizer, decided to take a water sample to pool store. They tested CYA at 100ppm. When performing my K2006 test, I wait for water temperature in...

    Cause for CH Increases

Alrighty then. Here's my CSI readings since 3/24. See file below message. Days missing simply means I checked but didn't record. Usually test daily or worst case every other day. Looks like I'm within standard variance except for 3/24, 3/26, 3/27 & 3/30. Also all negative except for today...

    Cause for CH Increases

Thanks guys for both responses. I've been maintaining my PH and/or ALK(actually reduced ALK to 50 to try and limit PH rise) with TFP standards and will continue to to monitor CH. I was using 25 ounces of MA every other day to control PH to 7.5. Jason suggested on another post to let PH rise...

    Cause for CH Increases

Richard....so I have to ask. If TFP recommends 250-350 CH (as standard), and as you noted, your CH was never as low as mine (previous test 425), now(4/17/13) tested at 500, what is the critical upper limit for CH? I'm trying not to make a mountain out of a mole hill; however, having trouble...

    Cause for CH Increases

Looking at CalTreat by United Chemicals and a product called Vanishing Act(For Spas) by Watkins marketed under the brand Hot Springs. It seems that a number of products are manufactured in Australia due to their water restrictions/hardness issues; however most can't be imported to the U.S. I...

    Cause for CH Increases

Thanks Richard....just trying to maintain pool against TFP standards for SWG pool. CH=250-350, so I was shooting for a midpoint of 300. I get nervous when CH gets above 350 since we just emerged from an acid wash (twice) to remove "alleged" hydration stains. We removed a large amount of...

    Cause for CH Increases

Have been doing a lot of reading on calcium reduction. Found another product that was manufactured specifically for hot tubs/spas to reduce calcium from salt generating systems. If the testimonials are any indication, it works to significantly reduce CH in hot tubs and spas. Granted, I'm...

    Cause for CH Increases

Jason...I read a number of articles regarding CalTreat. While I haven't done any scientific analysis of positive v. negative results, I'm thinking it might be worth a shot. I can always resort to draining and refilling.

    Cause for CH Increases

Confirmed today with pool store, that their CH test of my water, is within 50ppm of my test. Since draining requires more salt, borax and stabilizer and obviously water, I'm thinking of trying one of the CH reducer products to offset some of the expense. Pool store rep advises my high CH is...

    Cause for CH Increases

Weeks ago, my CH registered at 250. Today it registered at 425. Obviously I want to get it back in the normal range of 250-350. I'm wondering what is causing this gradual rise. Are there other chemicals (I'm using the BBB method) that is causing this rise? Can CH be impacted by water temp...

Took The Borate Plunge - But, May Need Help

So I've been running TA at 50 for a few weeks. Acid consumption to maintain PH at 7.5 continues to be about 23 ounces every other day. Should I raise my TA back to the "normal" range around 70 or leave at 50? Appreciate your suggestions and comments as to whether you think that my acid use is...

Took The Borate Plunge - But, May Need Help

I finally took the borate plunge. I used TFP's guidelines on adding 20MTB and acid. Using TFP's recommended Lamotte test strips, my borate tested at 50. I was shooting for 40...not sure how that happened. Prior to borates I was adding acid every other day to keep PH around 7.4. I was adding...
