Is SLAM inevitable? (YES...it was...5 Days of stress complete now)

You have to remove the light and loosen the Clamp to rotate the lens. I've done this a few different times in different pools and never noticed a difference. It's definitely not worth messing with in my opinion

Heater On for Christmas. Chlorine High

All that steam you saw leaving the pool wasn't Christmas spirit... that's a huge temperature difference and I'm surprised you didn't lose more water.

HIGH SALT READING IN PEBBLE TEC POOL

Acid has a ludicrous amount of chloride in it and I imagine you're going through a lot of acid. Almost every chemical you add to you pool has some sort of salt in it.

That's probably the simplest way and pretty reliable too.

CSI - Pool Math or Taylor nomogram?

Pool Math uses temperature...why do you say it doesn't? Pool Math uses total alkalinity and provides several adjustments (bicarbonate alkalinity and cyanurate alkalinity) that make the CSI much more accurate than the spinning Taylor wheel of death. CSI is determined from pH, TA, CH, CYA, water...

    SLAM Questions

The heater is fine, it's low pH that causes damage. Your FC level should drop soon enough

    Low CSI but high pH

The water temperature is what's causing the low number... Not much you can do about that. Your CSI isn't cause for concern right now. Keep it up :goodjob:

Pool Calculator doesn't have tile as a pool surface

Plaster The grout is cementitious and will greatly benefit from the same water parameters as a traditional plaster pool.

    Negative csi level

There are millions of people with pools that have no idea what CSI is and keep their water extremely negative unknowingly for years on end. The same people are getting multiple decades out of their pool plaster so with you keeping an eye on yours I don't see why you should experience any...

    New plaster chemical balance

I highly doubt those defects are a result of anything you did. Your water was aggressive but not quite as bad as what most do in a traditional startup. What is the builder saying?

    Brown stains in pool

That should do the trick if the stains are from an external source. If they are stains from the structural rebar rusting, then that's going to be another story.

Can CH rise drastically in a month?

Your fill water is very high in calcium so every time you top off the pool you are adding more calcium. These late summer/early fall months are notorious for being both windy and very dry which drastically speeds evaporation. There isn't much you can do unless you add a water softener to your...

    Levels Chart

If you still have tile and grout in the pool then I suggest you follow the recommended levels for plaster. You don't need to give the calcium level quite the attention that you would in a plaster pool but it is still important.

Day 4 as a pool chemist, big problems.. help

The TA test is being thrown off because of how high your chlorine level is. The test is still valid but the color change will be different. Try adding 10 drops of R-0007 and then add the R-0008. Why is your FC so high?

    Pool Party with a TFP

We threw a pool party yesterday and had about 60 people in the pool. By the day's end the water was so murky that you couldn't see the drain covers through 6' of water. Now 24 hours later the water looks as good as it did before the party. I took the FC to 12 (my CYA is 90) and and lowered the...

    Adding Borates - TA/CSI question

Jaime, I kind of think you are micromanaging your water chemistry somewhat. Remember etching the surface is not something that happens quickly and would need you to have a CSI below -1.0 for a very long time for it. I know you said you have some etching but I highly doubt it was from you. I bet...

The yellowish areas, are they raised and rough? It kind of looks like scale and with your CH level it is certainly very likely.
