    Pump seal leak

I noticed I was losing more water in the pool than I should be. A couple of weeks ago I dropped 3 inches while away on vacation. Getting a bit worried as I am scheduled to close my pool this Thursday, and the last thing I want to do is close until I find the source of the leak. Did the bucket...

    having an issue getting prime

I keep my solar cover on most of the time, but enough of it still makes its way in. The garbage that falls in are the dirty brown strings, and tiny tree flowers.

    having an issue getting prime

UPDATE I moved the valve to 100% main drain and could get prime. The problem seems to come as the closer I get to 50/50, I am then losing prime. Works great the closer I get to 100% in either direction. Any ideas on what would cause this to happen?

    having an issue getting prime

As of late we have a had a LOT of pollen, blooms, and garbage from the trees blooming falling into the pool. I lot of it tends to cluster on top of one of the bottom main drains. Over the last few weeks I have had the valve position mainly pulling from the skimmer to clean all the stuff from...

    What Pentiar filter is this?

This filter looks smaller than I thought it would be for my 295sq feet, 9250 gallon pool. I know it's a Pentiar, and I thought it was supposed to be a clean and clear model but can't find a matching picture online anywhere. I am out on the road this week and it was installed today. All my...

The age old single vs multispeed pump question

Am I using this correct?? Doesn't seem like much savings on the 2 speed pump. In the past I had always turned my previous pool over twice a day. I know this is an estimate only, but I thought savings would be greater. Looking at the 2 speed numbers only. My new pool will be 8500 gallons...

The age old single vs multispeed pump question

Just spoke to PB today and he said he would switch out the single speed 3/4 HP Pentair, for the 1.5 HP 2 speed Superflo. Now my question would be overtime will that cause any issues with my plumbing seeing as how I would be doubling the HP? Is going from .75 HP to 1.5 HP overkill? Is running...

The age old single vs multispeed pump question

To upgrade to a 2 speed pump is $775 with the controller installed. I agree that both prices seem high, but that includes installation and of course mark up by the builder. Typical for this region. Ran some numbers through the energy star calculator on pool pumps and it would take me just...

The age old single vs multispeed pump question

Getting ready to sign a contract on a new build. The contracted price comes with a Pentair 3/4 hp whisperflo pump. I have the option to upgrade to the Intellaflo by Pentair for $950. The PB says that due to the size of the pool (small 28x13.6 8500 gallon), and shorter swim season in New...

    Single or 2 speed pump??

Working with PB now on equipment list on a new build. Pump will be a Pentair Whisperflo 3/4 HP or 1HP, depending on final agreed pool size. Looking like its going to be a 24x12 give or take with a max of 300 sq feet. I will have a Polaris 280 and booster pump as part of the package. There...
