    Sand Filter & Dog Hair?

I just read through the “Deep-cleaning a sand filter” thread. Very informative-Thank you Smykowski and others. I'll certainly increase my monthly Backwash from 1 minute to 4 minutes. I’m going on my 4th season with the pool. Although, I’m not having any issues with cloudy water or...

SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing-Repair Update

Thanks for the reply. Some leaves a few months ago did in fact cause some problems. NOW I have an idea on what may have caused this set-screw to go AWOL.

SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing-Repair Update

Pentair certified Tech came out for warranty repair. The bolt was a impeller set-screw (reverse thread). He said it was odd for that to occur, but I'm good-to-go :goodjob:

SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing-Repair Update

Re: SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing Thanks for the input. Regarding repair or replacement, I'm easy and ok either way they want to fix it. Heck, If it does fail later-after warranty, the pump design seems good and with the twist connecting unions my PB used and low cost parts, I might...

    Replace Motor or Entire Pump?

Regarding the Hayward Navigator Cleaner-Replacement parts are cheap (on-line) and very easy to install. You could replace it with a better performing suction model ($300-$500) or go with a robot (+/-$900-$1100) and then deal with electrical cords stretched across your deck. For cost and...

SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing-Repair Update

Re: SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing From the pictures I found regarding replacement parts for my pump, it's a diffuser plate screw. PB says that I have a 3yr-warranty and Pentair will most likely replace the pump and motor. An education indeed, but sometimes I hate the methods! Thanks for...

Re: SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing I think you're right (either the impeller/diffuser). I'm guessing I may come home to a big mess  Thanks

SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing-Repair Update

Re: SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing Correct. No winterizing for us. Update-I spoke with a tech at Pentair; he said it may be from the diffuser plate (?). I did a search for Pentair diffuser plate bolts and sure enough, that's my bolt!! They'll send someone out to inspect repair under...

SS Bolt Found in Strainer Housing-Repair Update

I found yesterday in the strainer housing (but under the strainer basket) a SS bolt; looks like #7 or 8, about 2 inches long. Pump/motor are working normally. Pump is Standard 2HP Pentair SuperFlo. Any thoughts?

Tips requested on how best to clean pump strainer basket

Funny you should post~I'm a neebie as well and also frustrated. The way I see it; either placement of a check-valve (one way) or manual valve very near the intake of the pump. Not too sure the check-valve is advisable (may cause other problems down the road-debris slipping past...
