Hayward 6060 booster pump - replace seal or bearings ... ?

Re: Hayward 6060 booster pump - replace seal or bearings ... I recently replaced the seal in my 6060 booster pump with one from U.S. Seals. The part number is PS-200 and it works fine. I didn't have to do the bearings, so I can't help you there.

Help - disaster: Will epoxy putty repair hole in PVC?

Is there enough room for an expansion coupling? This YouTube video shows how to install one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=so9XZS0aD1s#!

    Ceramic seal tightness

The shaft seal has two parts. The white ceramic seal presses into the pump body, but does not touch the motor shaft. The other half is the spring loaded carbon seal and it is installed behind impeller with the carbon face against the white ceramic seal. It slides on to and seals against the...

Odd water squirt from Hayward SuperPump/S244T

I have the same filter and replaced the motor on my super pump with a two-speed motor about three years ago. My basket lid also squirts when the motor goes to low speed -- at this point I consider it normal. My automation is set up such that it goes from high to low once per day. The only...

NEWBIE - Low water level, gurgling, and no water in skimmers

Re: NEWBIE - Low water level, gurgling, and no water in skim After adding water you might also verify that the skimmers weirs are moving freely. They act as flaps and should open to let the water in and then float closed when the pump stops to keep debris from floating back into the pool...

How to change speeds on 2 speed pumps?

I'm not familiar with the pump motor (or operating voltage), but maybe this thread will help: http://www.troublefreepool.com/dual-speed-wiring-question-t14547.html

    What bearings?

I've not replaced my motor bearings, so I can't vouch for this. But scroll down to the bottom of the page at the following link and see if that is what you need: http://www.poolcenter.com/motor_parts.htm

    Impeller Plugging all the time

Skimmer socks are good at catching leaves and smaller debris, but you do have to check them regularly.

Flow drops from 60 to 7 after 8 minutes!

Does your SWG (salt water generator) also turn the pump on and off? If so, the pump may have stopped during the night and it lost its prime (which takes you back to the air leak...). I tried to look up your pump, but that model number comes up as a SWG.

Flow drops from 60 to 7 after 8 minutes!

Glad it was an easy fix! If you haven't found it yet, there is a lot of good information under the pool school link (at the top of the page). The article titled "Defeating Algae" will help you clear up the green pool. Here is the direct link...

Flow drops from 60 to 7 after 8 minutes!

A little more on blowing the lines -- I think Scott means to blow them from the pump back towards the skimmer, which is where the pump pulls the water from the pool. Just out of curiosity -- do you have a basket in your skimmer(s) and if so are they clean?

Flow drops from 60 to 7 after 8 minutes!

By "blow the lines" I think he means to force water backwards through the pipes to flush out whatever it is that is blocking the flow. Some people used a hose attachment called a Drain King. Water pressure from the hose expands it and seals it against the pipe and then it lets the water...

Where is a good place to purchase a new pump?

I recently was on the fence with replacing my whole pump or just swapping the motor out (the end goal was to have a two-speed pump). At the time, Google was showing that http://www.poolgeek.com had the Whisperflow I was interested in cheaper than anyone else. I've had good experiences with...

Inground pool leaked down 8 inches overnite!

Based on some of the swamp pictures I've seen on this board, I suspect that the algae and the pump burning up are unrelated. If you can tell us a little more about your equipment as well as a full set of water test results someone will be along to help. Also you might consider starting a new...

DO: Trip the breaker before you start. :) The following are links to a two-part Youtube video for replacing the shaft seal in a Super Pump - it is not your exact pump, but it might give you an idea what to expect (like take the cover off the back of the motor to access the flats on the motor...

Estimating filter pressure for a new pump?

Reporting back on this project -- I decided to replace the motor on my existing Super Pump instead of swapping it out for the WhisperFlow. Mark’s analysis showed me that the Super Pump was moving more water that I had guessed, so I felt the $200 difference for a new pump wasn’t justified...

Leaky pump - 7 year old Hayward Super II Pump 1HP

It is probably the shaft seal leaking. I just had my super pump apart and there really isn't much to it -- just trip the breaker before you start, watch for markings that say "UP" and keep your fingers off sealing surfaces of the new carbon/ceramic seal. You can replace the shaft seal and...

Estimating filter pressure for a new pump?

Thanks for the feedback. My pool builder was originally going to put in a 1 hp pump but decided to go with 1.5 because he felt it would do better with the 5' lift from the pool to the equipment pad. I hadn't found this site yet and didn't know any better at the time. The 1 hp pump might be a...

Estimating filter pressure for a new pump?

Thanks for that, but I don't think that is what is happening with my filter. It makes the popping sound for hours on end until the filter gets dirty enough to get the pressure over 15 psi (weeks after back washing...). My system seems to be air tight as there is no air in the pump basket, even...

Estimating filter pressure for a new pump?

Mark, thanks again -- I'll make a note of those numbers and will let you know what the filter reads if I change out the pump (I'm still looking into just changing the motor out for a two speed motor). stev32k - does your filter making any popping sounds when the pump is running? Mine does, but...
