Okay, did some further searching on the forum and have read to stay away from 'play sand' like this. Local pool store has #40 bags of Silica filter sand for $13.18 each in stock. I will go with that.

Hello, The manual specifies #20 silica sand. I'm guessing that what I've found at Lowes does not meet that specification, but wanted to verify with the experts here. Lowes has pre-washed, fine grain play sand -- see photo. Will this work? It is readily available. I asked and they did not...
