Is it required to use all CPVC after pool heater? What about polyethylene pipe underground?

It has been recognised that residual chlorine can impact the service life of PE pipes but with service life measured around the 100yr mark it may be slightly moot point generally. Researching this i found this pdf to read...

    Stand pipe to multiport valve

Typically there will be an o-ring there to provide the sealing. not sure for your exact model where it's situated but i have found it listed on multiple different parts diagrams for other MPV units

    Pool Pump Concerns

That myth has well and truly been busted...... filtration and circulation are needed for some reasons but NOT for the prevention of Algae. Sanitation (Chlorine) does that. Ultimately that will be season dependent, deep in the middle of winter in non tropical areas it likely doesn't have any...

How do I clean my pool from red dust

Going back to the original question. 1. What filter have you got, make, model, media? 2. Pump? 3. Turn over is not normally considered from a chemical balance issue but for clearing this red dust you may need to run the pump longer. 4. it can take a while to actually clear this stuff, 12 months...

How do I clean my pool from red dust

Well it’s certainly fine but at least my sand filter with Zeo media is quite happy to filter it out, though my filter is way oversized and not stressed by the pump flow rate in any way. A lot of this dust has been airborne for days and thousands of kilometers in some cases so even thinking of it...

How do I clean my pool from red dust

Yeah, I have it here as well Marty, between smoke ash and dust it’s interesting... ends up as brown spots on the bottom but definately dust

Dimmer for 1hp 220v spa blower?

Technically there is not a common "light dimmer" that will handle an inductive load, however i have in my own garage over here in Aus an Inductive Motor speed controller rated at 1.5Kw(2hp) that is a simple rotary pot just like a dimmer. Typically these get used on 240v tools using inductive...

Low flow high heat or high flow lower heat?

The ultimate answer will be what heat rise in the pool water do you get over the entire nine hour window vs the energy expended including pool pump and heat pump power usage..... Theory says you gain some efficiency at higher flow rates but if that comes at the cost of increased power usage...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

My pleasure to be able to help someone out, properly balanced water is a joy to be in and the forum shows us how .... Since you started your adventure i've installed a 32" sand filter, re-plumbed to a new pad, changed the valved return out for a 2" fitting making the entire setup hard plumbed...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

That is a real pain in the rear...... they either have a basic issue or a bad batch .. The one thing that I really like about my new 32" sand filter is the bolt down MPV that is so much better than the clamp style one IMO.

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

Well it is either faulty out of the box, not completely un heard of or the lock ring is not screwed down correctly. maybe just angles in the video but it nearly looks to be on crocked or just not screwed down far enough. the PSI value is low so that rules out the return valve being closed...

Clark rubber is the only physical store i know that sells the rubber sheet and i did turn bunnings upside down looking for something suitable early in the year..... Just maybe this might work Caroma 50mm Trap Repair Kit, but you would need to check it in person. btw just checked the washers i...

Clark rubber sell 100mm wide strip, the 1mm thick stuff does the job.... if you don’t have a Clark Rubber store nearby PM me your address and I can stick some cut to size ones I just freed up in an envelope for you cheers

pump and SWG height in relation to filter?

I know you said PSI in one of the posts above but my guess is these are actually kpa numbers as we sometimes only get metric gauges in Aus ... assuming kpa readings 38kpa = 5.5psi 60kpa = 8.7psi 70kpa = 10.1psi would seem to be in the general area of low to normal .... how about a picture of...

    Sand vs Glass?

Zelbrite and all it's various packaged names at least in Aus is NOT glass. Zelbrite comes from a naturally formed volcanic rock which is mined at Werris Creek in Northern N.S.W. Australia and is distributed around the world under multiple names. It is definitely sharper than traditional sand...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

I haven't bought one of those 3m hoses, i just have the standard supplied Bestway hoses for my pool, but looking at both what you have v what i have v the picture of that hose it would seem they are all the same. My hoses will connect correctly to the 50mm Valve take fitting which will measure...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

Well they are listed as a Bestway hose and it seems at least Bestway has a single sized threaded connection. I can think of no easy or effective way to shorten the corrugated hose. I just went and pulled the hose off the same inlet valve on my pool as i couldn't remember the o-ringed pipe...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

I didn't buy them, they were part of the original Bestway pool/pump/filter package and we have hard plumbed the two drain connections and as part of the re-plumb will be hard plumbing the return connection at which point the flexible hoses will be redundant. pvc hard piping by aussiephil1960, on...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

@Tjie77 you will love the 800, you can disable the priming function so that it doesn't start at max speed and will start at the last selected speed, it also has a soft start so it ramps up speed and consequently the current draw which is really nice. On the subject of pipe sizing, if you are...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

I meant to say in the last post that most of the equipment we are discussing would (and is) normally considered way overkill for smaller Above Ground Pools and the cost of the gear starts to exceed the cost of the pool in a lot of cases. The big benefit with "real" filters and pumps is the...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

I haven't managed to fully understand the Onga/Pentair relationship with some of the Onga pumps now being Pentair, the Enviromax 800 is one of those as it was sold last year everywhere as the Onga ECO 800. Onga, Davey, Monarch, Zodiac are all the decent stuff, Astral is in another price range...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

Yeah finding a price is near impossible online.... it seems to be around 799 when you ring around a bit... I got mine from best pool supplies when they had a 20% off sale so got it at a bargain. I noticed they had pricing on the Onga Pantera cartridge filters and they seemed reasonable priced...

Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

Depending on financial consideration it would be worth considering a variable speed pump, specifically the Pentair Enviromax 800 that is 3 setting variable speed unit that can save considerable power over a single speed unit. Mine is currently running at 1700 rpm on the med setting and uses 210w...

    pool pump selection help needed

    pool pump selection help needed

Yeah separate pumping circuits are the highly recommended method in Oz. The E170 is cheap at $371 .... That's cheap over here. this would keep it simple as a straight swap replacement. Another option that is very common over here and far less so in the US it seems is to install a three speed...

Using main filter pump for solar heating is stupid?

I think the points put forward as cons are rubbish but on a new build i'd think there are some benefits of at least plumbing for an independent system .... here is one blog that has some logical pro's and con's https://www.pooledenergy.com/blog/recommended-plumbing-for-swimming-pool-heating/...

Look at what we pay in Canada for sch 40 pvc

:) at least the 6m lengths are not double the price at $42.50 ..... mind you bit of shopping around at plumbing supplies will see that halved again... still lots more exy than the US
