New Inground Pool - In Construction!

Just a quick update, being a new pool owner, I've learned a lot. Still learning. Pool has been converted to salt and I'm working on dialing in the hours the pump is on and the percentage of the SWG. The initial pool service guy set up the pump to run from 8am to 3pm, 2200 rpms on the pump. I...

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

I'm still working the TA, but it's slow going. Basically adding a gallon of MA every other day and running waterfalls for 4 hours. PH is staying between 7.2 and 8 during the process. TA is down to 130 today. Salt conversion happens next week.

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

I'm a few weeks in, salt conversion should happen in a week or so. Learning the chemistry, trying to get PH and TA down. Here are some pics of full pool. Rest of the yard landscaping is on hold for now so it's a lovely pool surrounded by dirt. FC 2.5 CYA 70 PH 8.2 TA 150 CH 300 I added...

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

Pool equipment was installed last week. Plaster today, they come back tomorrow to acid wash and finish plaster - then start filling the pool. I look forward to lots of brushing ;).

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

That's a good point. While I haven't spoken to the pool contractor yet, my understanding is the pool fills and runs for 30 days before salt is added and SWG turned on. So, pool robot 30 days after that?

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

I know when plaster is completed and pool filled, I have daily brushing duty. How long till I can use the robot after a new plaster install?

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

Making progress. We are a week away from plaster! Pool equipment will be installed this week, landscaper has taken care of drainage and retaining walls. Robot, check. Test kit, check. Ready for plaster and water!

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

Pool tile was installed today. Cloudy so we can't see what it will look like with full sun, but we are happy with the look. Should tie into the rest of the yard.

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

We start bonding in the morning ;). Thankfully the weather is a bit forgiving, but I'll be watering it daily.

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

Gunite was completed today. Nice to see it taking shape. Figuring out a complementary landscape plan.

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

Passed the first inspection, waiting for gunite to be scheduled when weather clears. They flash sprayed gunite on the pool walls to help avoid erosion with the rain coming this week and next.

Another day, more progress. Plumbing and rebar are done. Finishing the main water line and running electrical on Monday with the first inspection Monday afternoon. Gunite the following week.

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

The 7-8 slope is the decision so far. We do want a pair lounge chairs and we'll have an umbrella holder. Enough to put our feet in and splash around seems good.

MOD - Thanks for moving back to the original. I should have considered keeping it all together. It's just taking soooo long to get started :D

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

I'm sure most of you thought I'd never get started with this pool project. But, happy to say we are under construction. My prior thread was a few months ago and covered the details of the pool (size/equipment)...

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

These are good comments, thanks for the feedback. IC40 power supply is in the EasyTouch panel. I’ve pretty much decided to go with the fancy colored globrite lights, I just know I’ll regret it if I don’t. Need to keep party light mode a viable option o_O. Any thoughts on Cabo shelf depth...

New Inground Pool - In Construction!

I had an earlier post regarding pool design questions, I'm past that and moving towards construction with a builder. I wanted to get feedback on the build before I sign the contract. We are now working with a builder that will do a SWG build. Here are the details: Pool Size/Features: 26' x...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

I shared the design picture with another pool company, they did a basic render and costed it out much the same as the first company, but the second company includes an SWG. They use Pentair/Sta-Rite and include Intellipro VSF pump, and EasyTouch with ScreenLogic. He's trying to talk me into...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

3.5 to 6 feet, don’t need a deep pool but I do want a deep end instead of the sport depth. Umbrella sleeve for sure I don’t have a depth on the baja yet. Any suggestions? Existing patio is pavers. We are working with our landscaper to figure out the best transition, concrete pool decking will...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

Here’s the revised design. We might extend the pool entrance a bit more and increase the length by a couple feet. But it’s close. Unfortunately the earliest they can start is late August. I need to decide whether we should start construction then or just wait till early 2020.

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

Good feedback, thanks. I agree on the L comment, I’ve attached my sloppily drawn edit. I also think we should open up the entrance/baja shelf and break up how the front side mirrors the back. I think the back works by itself. I think some sort of edge in the wall would not only be functional but...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

We’ve gotten a couple designs from one pool company, none that we really love. I contacted a second company who had given us more of a free form kidney style and asked him to do a geometric design. This is what he came up with. Thoughts?

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

Yes, drains on both sides of the house, drains fine. In a big storm it ma pool a little in a low spot off patio, but that will go away once the rest of the yard is done.

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

Great ideas. I just need to get some design options from the PB. The bowl of the yard hasn’t been an issue yet, main drains run along patio. It’s this way from the landscaper who did Phase I hardscape and pushed all the dirt up the yard, knowing Phase II pool was next, but that got delayed. PB...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

We just want a small bit of yard between BBQ and pool, no kids (future grand kids at some point). Small grass area for a small dog, landscaping to fill and blend. Yes, the hill pretty much requires seat walls or raised walls of some sort. Which works, provides planting areas and can create a...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

Some good advice, thanks for the support. In response to some of the comments: No spa. We don't really want the expense to heat and the real estate hit. If I was going to do a spa, it would be a separate hot tub. We'll be installing solar for the pool. I have reached out to our landscaper...

Pool Design Frustration - working towards contract

I'm a new member, diving into the construction threads and learning as much as I can. I'm trying to get a pool project off the grounds, but I'm stalled by non-responsive pool builders and the design phase. I thought I would get some input from people on this forum as I'm wondering if my...
