States with the largest amount of new builds

That can't be right... the whole of Fresno county is just about over million people total in the current census.

If central California were its own state, we would definitely be at the top of the running. At least 4 out of 5 houses in my neighborhood have pools lol.

Advice about new pebblesheen finish issues

Those photos look within what I would consider a "normal" range to me as well. Pool finishes are rarely, if ever, perfect, and in most cases the only person who notices is the pool owner. A lot of builders do themselves a disservice by talking up the finish they are selling you and leaving you...

    Rooftop Infinity Edge Build

Looks like it's similar to a UV system, but using sonic waves to kill algae and other microorganisms. The problem with any of these systems is that they do not provide passive sanitation. The only water being sanitized is the water passing through it at any given point in time. So for...

HELP, was our skimmer set too low.

The fact that the builders have not come out personally seems insane to me. At a minimum, I would stop all work until they get their behinds out there to look at it, and make sure all your concerns have been really clearly documented in writing, along their representation of how a functional...

HELP, was our skimmer set too low.

You might want some pavers or something around it so you have somewhere to kneel down when emptying the basket.

HELP, was our skimmer set too low.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this, it's very difficult running into these kinds of problems on such a big investment that you are eager to have completed. I agree 100% with the others here that this is something you really need to get resolved now. If you wait until the pool is done and...

I get that... I just don't understand what the question is that OP needs help with.

    Rooftop Infinity Edge Build

This thread perplexes me. OP posts photos and plans that are like, completely insane, from most of our backyard-pool-owner perspectives, but won't answer questions about it that predictably follow. And having read through it I'm not even clear on what advice OP is looking for to begin with.

Contemplating switching from pebblesheen to quartz last minute

Here's more of an action shot of what ours looks like when swimming. Originally we wanted white and were going to go with the Cielo, but then decided to go with something more blue because we didn't want the sun shelf to look washed out.

Contemplating switching from pebblesheen to quartz last minute

Yeah it does have some sparkle to it, what they call shimmering sea. It's not particularly noticeable, I think it just helps produce a nice bright color in the water. https://www.pebbletec.com/browse-our-products/shimmering-sea/ If someone who didn't know anything about pool finishes looked at...

Contemplating switching from pebblesheen to quartz last minute

They say it is lasts as long as the regular pebble... but it has not been around nearly as long, so I don't really know for sure, but I'm pretty confident it will last longer than plaster. My understanding (and I may be mistaken) is that the pebble fina is very similar to quartz. A big part of...

Contemplating switching from pebblesheen to quartz last minute

I think that's an issue with any colored finish. Mine has some mottling, but I'm the only one who notices -- I think that's true for most pool owners, they notice all the imperfections but no on else ever does. Also keep in mind that the people who are happy with theirs are less likely to take...

Contemplating switching from pebblesheen to quartz last minute

I have the Pebble Fina and am extremely happy with it. I would agree that it is pretty smooth, with just the right amount of grip. It's very comfortable. Also, costs less than the other pebble tec finishes. Not nearly as rough as the Pebble Sheen. You can see pictures in the build link in...

    New pool questions

Go with the salt system, it's a much better sanitizer than uv/ozone. The saltwater system generates chlorine, which will sanitize all the water in your pool, all the time. The UV systems only sanitize the water that happens to be passing through it at any give time -- you would still need to...

    Pebble finish ABOVE waterline

I think you are going to have problems keeping it clean at the waterline, and it could also be prone to fading above the waterline. Also, looks like WetEdge would exclude that from their warranty, so my guess is they think it's a bad idea...

Please help me with my new pool build and equipment

Do you have a Pebble Tec dealer there? If so, look into their Pebble Fina product. Supposed to have the longevity of pebble, but it feels like plaster. Also usually cheaper than regular pebble. You can see what mine looks like in the build photos in my signature, that's the Bella Blue color.

Have heat pump installed and bought with PB or do on your own after build completed?

There are things that are going to need to be done during the pool build to prep for the heater - such as the electrical provisioning for it, and automation if you are doing that. You are better off if the PB does it all, that way if something doesn't work, you won't just get a bunch of finger...

New Gunnite Pool- Should I plaster it with StoneScapes Mini Pebbles or finish it with Fiberglass?

It *should* cost less, but I have heard that some dealers charge the same, so it may vary depending on dealer.

New Gunnite Pool- Should I plaster it with StoneScapes Mini Pebbles or finish it with Fiberglass?

I have pretty limited experience with fiberglass over shotcrete, but I'm not a huge fan. The one pool I am familiar with had this done about 15 years ago, and has a few spots where it's starting to delaminate, and also has some real slippery spots. Also, when it does need to be replaced, your...

    Pebble Tec or bigger pool

Ask about Pebble Fina. It feels like plaster, but is supposed to have the longevity of pebble. For us it was a quite a bit cheaper. Best of both worlds.

Walls caved in from rain. Crushed Rocks below rebar?

Another non-expert here -- but this is the internet, so I'll opine anyway! You can see in my build photos below, they just used a bobcat on my excavation with a ramp going down to the deep end. When they did the gunite, they just put a mesh form across where the ramp went in, and shot the...

New pool build in Missouri. Finally started. First pool. Lots of pictures!

Yes! Seating under a waterfall is the best! We have three sheer descents that come down above that long bench in our pool. It's so nice and relaxing to sit under those, especially when the heater is running.

New pool build in Missouri. Finally started. First pool. Lots of pictures!

I would recommend more seating in the pool, maybe a long bench along that straight bottom wall? We did a bench all along one side of our pool, and it's our favorite feature.

    Is boxed equipment safe outside?

My stuff got rained all over during our build. Worst part is all the swollen water-logged cardboard you are left with. Maybe your PB will dispose of it for you.

    Help with Stonescapes finish !!

Ours has some mottling and a few weird areas as well. I notice them, but nobody else ever notices, ever. When the sun is shining and people are using the pool I can't see them either. I, too, had expectations (fostered by the gorgeous photos on the Pebble Tec website) that pool finishes can...
