    eggman's pool build - finished January 8, 2009

Re: eggman's pool build Looking good eggman! I think we have the same coping. I know it's old news now, but I really dig the covered deck - the real wood overhead. I'll be you make some good 'que on "The Beast." Keep us posted!

El Duderino's Austin Pool Build - FINISHED with PICS

Re: El Duderino's Austin Pool Build Great layout...thanks for sharing. The leaves will probably be a bit of a pain but I really like that you were able to incorporate the tree in the design. :goodjob:

    Hurricane Ike

We live in Missouri City so we are right there with you. The first thing to do is clear the area around the pool of anything that could get blown in. Of course you are going to have limbs, etc but unless you let them sit in your pool for a long time, you should not have too much trouble. I...

Can a pool be physically upgraded?

I agree, a stand alone hot tub would probably be better for your purposes. A spa attached to your pool is great (we love ours), but if you are looking for more therapeutic benefit, a stand alone is the way to go. There will be much better, more comfortable seating and LOTS more jets. You'd be...

    Cheap versus expensive pool?

You can pm as long as it's welcome by both parties. Obviously, we don't just allow anyone to solicit via pm.

    Leaking gas heater (Hayward) H-300....hAlp!

It was a total flop, so it was removed. In fact, it was the least used forum I have ever put on TFP. :?

New exposed aggregate deck is cracked!

Sounds like you just live with it. At 3 ft. width, it doesn't sound like a mistake on the pb's part.

    Where was this site hiding?

Better late than never. The major component in search listings is time. The longer we are around, the more links back the site people will make, and the more credibility we will be given by the search engines. What a lot of people don't realize is that TFP is just over one year old. 8)

    Landmark's pool build

A liquidator would be a great combination with the puck feeder. The liquidator has a lot of the same benefits of a salt system, with few downsides, plus it's very easy to set up and inexpensive to purchase compared to other alternatives. Either way, I wouldn't spend the money on the ozone...

    Time Sensitive: Liner Vacuum

Are you sure you are not one of my kids? They also keep asking until they get an answer they like too. j/k  Seriously, what are we talking about, one night? It's just not that big a deal. I work shift work and often sleep during the day, so I know all about light or little sleep. One...

    Time Sensitive: Liner Vacuum

Why risk it? I'd leave it on. It's a minor inconvenience. You can apologize to the neighbors over swimming and margaritas when it's all done.

    Question about decking??

No problem. We don't mind answering questions, but with over 45,000 posts, there's a pretty good chance what you are looking for is already here. I'll be the first to admint that our search function is not the best - but it will be much better after BUU2008!

Need some input on two bids and builders

That's too much information. Try listing just the basics - size, equipment and any unusual differences between the two. You are asking a lot for someone else to do an A/B comparison of all that. You'll get more replies with a shorter list. ;)

    Vegasmom's Pool Build

Okay, enough personal stuff. VM - sorry for the hijack. This is your thread and I now return it to you after a brief lock-out to clean up. The only discussions allowed in this thread from anyone will be about VM's pool build and nothing else. No other personal comments will be allowed!

    Vegasmom's Pool Build

I'm paraphrasing Carld, but it only takes "5 minutes a day." ;) But hey, it's your pool and your money and your 5 minutes. If you change your mind, you know where to come. 8)

Trying to decide on PB and other stuff... Any advice

If have not already read this article, it might help: http://www.troublefreepool.com/sticky.php?s=9 Otherwise I don't have anything to add, other than I might steer clear of the Intellichlor swg. I have one and had to have the cell replaced the first year. Pentair was great and there were no...

    New Pool Build nearly Finished

I really like the tile, the stone, and the wood beams. It's going to be sensational! Heck, even if you didn't build the pool, it would make for a great backyard. If you have time to post more pictures, this would be a good one to see as a progression. Why has it taken so long - just due to...

New IG pool build start to finish!

I apologize for the self-promotion, but you may want to consider becoming a TFP Supporter, just for the financial savings. You might want to check with www.poolandspawarehouse.com. The owner, Paul, is a regular on the site (user name "All your parts"), and offers a 10% discount to TFP...

    jtm60's intro/upcoming build

I sent him a pm about being rude in another thread. His reply to me got him banned. It's a shame because I was enjoying following his build. I just don't get some people. I guess I will lock this thread to avoid confusion. FYI - I have only banned 4 people in the history of this site...

    Home Owner Insurance

I would check with your insurance agent, instead of the real estate agent. Based on some of the things you have reported you and your sons doing in your pool, you may want to keep the higher limits.

We did the same, but we also have lots of kids around. It's probably over-kill, but I'd rather have too much than not enough.

    We've Got Water!

Ours is 32' long and we went from 3 1/2 to 5 1/2, but we did the deep area at the end instead of the middle. Our thinking was that by doing it that way, we would have a good size shallow end with a very gradual slope to the deep. Doing the deep in the middle, which is very popular, seems to...

    Stever's Pool Build

 That's exactly what I was thinking. I doubt it would look like that to people once completed but as a sketch it sure does. Like TMQ suggested, I would soften that angle, and maybe even make it a couple of smaller curves to give it more of a free form look.

Is there a way to keep a liner from floating?

In the past year, I have only banned a few people, but never for dispensing quality advice. :? I'm sorry I can't give out all the details, but out of respect for Ted and his privacy, I will not discuss this publicly other that to say that unfortunately we had a difference of opinion that...
