I am not exactly sure which part of the picture I should be looking at. Are you talking about the dark strip above the tile line (kinda looks like a shadow)? Have you tried testing it for a metal stain? Crush up vitamin C tablets and put them in a sock. Hold the sock against the stain for 1-2...

Are these near the bottom of the pool? Or the top? Or does it appear to be random? Also, did you put a pad down underneath your liner prior to install?

I agree with Scott about the portable spa! It will be cheaper to begin with, and troubleshooting any future issues is MUCH easier if you can get to you equipment easily.
