Over flow washed away sand under pool

I am upset that I allowed this to happen, but it is my fault. When filling the pool this year, I made the mistake of forgetting to turn off the water when I left to do errands. The overflow was on the side under the deck and washed away sand causing the liner to enter the sinkhole created right...

Never had green algae on pool sides before

Marty, I finally got the free chlorine up to where it is supposed to be for SLAM. I need to get algae off the sides again. Once I can not see any green any where, do I go on to the OCLT? Pam

Never had green algae on pool sides before

Thank you, Marty. I had read the Pool School SLAM article but didn't realize that the test kit I had wouldn't do. I have ordered the FAS-DPD test kit. When I do the SLAM process, do I need to not swim in the pool during those days? I will probably be back with more questions once I get the kit.

Never had green algae on pool sides before

We were away for vacation and came back to green algae on the south pool sides. The pool water is clear. I know I probably need to shock the pool but I am not sure I am using your charts correctly. It is 7600 gallon pool and I have been using bleach when needed. Most recent other addition was...

Help! BROWN IRON in pool water

My computer broke and so I was unable to get back to respond to all your helpful suggestions. My husband made a pool filter out of a 5 gallon bucket and fiberfill. It is working well and we rinse out the rust several times a day from it and the regular pool filter. The numbers are quite a bit...

Help! BROWN IRON in pool water

Thank you for the information. I read the article that you linked for me. If the iron can dissolve again by lowering the pH, it sounds as if I should use the muriatic acid that I bought. I did not try the acid demand test, but I will tomorrow. The K-2005 is brand new, so I don't think the...

Help! BROWN IRON in pool water

Hi, I am a first time pool owner. We have an 18 ft Intex pool that we just put up on June 30th. After two days to fill it from our well, it turned brown at the addition of the chlorine and we now know that this is the iron in the well water. Globules of rust are all over the pool sides giving...
