Because I know you are all DYING to know, I thought I'd check in and let you know how things are going. The TA is FINALLY at 75. I went over a week, I think, without adding any bleach because we had the SWG going regularly and I was testing twice a day. However, Sunday was a busy day and I...

First of all I would like to thank this Troublefreepool.com for teaching me and encouraging me. My pool still looks so great I can't believe it! Then I would like to give an update of the readings: FC has been good - the lowest it got so far was yesterday afternoon: 3. But then the SWG kicks in...

ok, so the swg has been running but today it says low salt. I had backwashed a few times during the SLAM process, and we had one day where we forgot to turn the hose off, so we lost some water there. Today it says low salt and now I am reading through the intex saltwater system manual. It said...

Thanks, everyone. So my chlorine is down to 12.5 We are turning on the SWG right now. Hopefully there's still enough salt in the pool. I suppose the generator will let us know if there isn't - it'll say low salt. But it says that when the electrolyte thingie needs the vinegar wash... The cya is...

FINALLY! According to my reading this morning, I did not lose any chlorine during the night - maybe a half point. CC is .5, and water looks crystal clear. SO, now, I guess I just let the chlorine levels drift down. If I want to switch over to SWG, I will need to up the cya. And when should I...

Hello Everyone! Is this normal: Last night, around 8:30pm, I tested and FC was 18. I'm trying to keep FC at 24 for slamming since my cya is between 50 and 60. I added enough bleach to bring it up to 24. tested again around 9:15pm - it was 22.5 so I added enough to get it to 24. Tested...

ok, so with the cya at right over 60, I will try to keep FC between 24 and 28. I just took a reading and it was 27. I will take another test about 9 pm to see where it is and continue this process. It was easier today - no bodies in the water! After I'm finished with the slam, then I will...

Well, we got the tube fixed on the skimmer to the pump. And I have been keeping chlorine levels up as much as possible- I think I will have more accurate results now that there is good circulation. We added a bit of water to the pool this morning - but forgot that the hose was in the pool so...

all right. Just took another reading: FC 25.0 CC .5 I added 29 (actually, about a qt.) bleach to get it back up to 31 FC. Pool water looks sparkly and inviting! Kids got involved in playing inside and have forgotten, for the moment, the pool.

Good Morning! I will suggest the hard PVC to the guys. My husband ordered fittings and was waiting for them to come so he can match up sizes, but it might be better to get the pvc and then get fittings to fit that. I don't know. But we do need to do something soon because I think circulation...

Ah. Well, we are trying to remedy it by getting proper hosing. That's the hose that came with the pool, but then we upgraded to the sand filter and swg. But the hose from the skimmer to the pump is the original which is smaller and cheaper. Thanks!

it is the hose from the pool to the pump. The hoses from the pump to the filter and then filter to pool are fine - but much more rigid, than the hose from pool to filter. That's why we thought they were sucking in or collapsing. I'm sorry - I was thinking of the big hole at the top where the...

Hi guys! i ran out of the R-0871 so I am just going to add bleach in the a.m. And p.m like I have been and wait for my stuff to come in the mail. one thing, though, the one hose that goes from the filter to the pump had some kinks in it and now whenever pump is running, it's sucks in where those...

ok, at 12:30, FC was at 35.5 I added bleach at around 9 a.m. to bring it up 35. It took 71 drops! There's a pool store in Topeka that does carry R-0781. I will pick some up to hold me over till I get my order! So much fun!

yeah...ok, going by the amount of times they come in and the trail to the bathroom, and the wet toilet seat, I don't think they're peeing much in the pool...

Ok, so I shouldn't take into account the pH level, just get the chlorine up to shock level and keep it there a.m. and p.m.? What about the cya? I had partially emptied the pool and refilled to lower the cya. I refilled the pool. Checked cya and it was slightly too high. So I figured since we...

Thank you all so much! This is my result for the OCLT: FC last night: 27.4 this a.m: 24.5 I'd say that was more than 1.0 loss. darn! I will need to order more R-0871, if I keep this up! Unfortunately I had already added salt, which I did cuz I didn't want to empty the pool again...

This evening I tested - FC was at 23. I am going to ignore testing cya tonight and for a few days because you all said that cya isn't accurate till about a week after adding it. So I am ignoring that...even though I did test it this morning and it was higher than it's supposed to be even...

Thanks, Kim. So last night I did backwash while that return hose wasn't hooked up. The salt has just been put in, so it wasn't dissolved. i added 8.5 oz, by weight, of cya. and bleach and muriatic acid. this morning I tested: FC 2 cc. .5 pH 7.4 TA 225 cya. 95 I had just put the cya I last...

Thanks. Ok, I tested my fill water for TA. It's 375 to 400. I have added bleach leach and the muriatic acid. Then we put in the salt, but realized the electrodes or whatever they are, need soaking for about an hour in vinegar. SO the pump is not running at the moment, but kids are in the pool...

So, it finally got sunny and hot. Didn't get to test pool till now and here are my readings... FC. 2 CC. .5 pH. 7.6 TA. 250 cya. About 55 I'm going to add 24 oz. bleach, 27 oz. MA, and aerate. kids have been in pool all day, so water doesn't look great, and pressure seems low on pump. No...

thank you all so much! I'll do all you say... I may test the fill water just to see what it is. Next step will be adding the salt. Today, though. Wow. It's just pouring rain pretty much all day. If this doesn't change I may have to invest in those uv lights so I don't slip into depression...

Thanks Lisa, CYA is where it should be for salt, so if I decided to forgo salt, I'd have to empty again and refill. And besides we have the SWG so we should try to use it. My question is about the TA? Why is it high, when the pH is low? Should I even pay attention to TA? very perplexing c

ok, folks, here are my new readings: FC 2 CC .5 pH 7.2 TA 250 (AAAACK!!) CYA 78 or 80 ...perfect if I'm going to salt. Now...What about that TA??? Why is it so high? Anyway, according to poolcalculator, I will: 1) add 9.8 oz of bleach, 2) add 13 oz of M.A. to lower pH to 7.0, aerating to...

I, myself, have not. My son did last year, my hubby did this year...but then we completely drained the pool a few weeks ago. So no salt has been added to this fresh batch of water. So I haven't even been acting like we have an SWG. We have partially emptied and refilled and I have the filter...

So, what happens with too high of cya? I read a little - it makes you use more bleach? Anyway, I will drain some and refill. I want to add salt, but should I wait for the TA to get where it's supposed to be? Or just get the salt going as soon as cya is right? Or maybe the TA will get better...

Yes, small pool - 3300 pro series. We upgraded to intex sand filter and SWG. Since we have been starting over this summer and seriously learning this stuff, thanks to you guys, I have not turned on the SWG. SWG pools call for higher CYA, fortunately, so I won't have to drain half the pool! I...
