That is pretty much what I was thinking. I had never heard of them either. Just wanted to see if I had been missing out on a new technology. I guess not.
The new liner is in and water is slowly approaching full. I tested this morning and got the following results:
Cl - .5
PH - 7.0
TA - 45
CH - 20
CYA - 0
I have filled the auto chlorinator with triclor tabs to help get some stabilizer in with the chlorine. I will discontinue them as soon as I...
We have the new liner ordered now and expect it to be installed on 8-17. I wonder what to do first about getting the water chemically balanced. My thought is that I will start dissolving CYA in the water as it is filling. According to Pool Calculator, I will need about 8 lbs to get to 40. I...
We have some bats that visit our pool every evening just at dark. We think they are fun to watch and I don't know how you would get rid of them. We just enjoy ours when we see them. I tried hard to get a picture for the Dogs days of summer contest, but couldn't. They fly so fast and its getting...
The liner is 9 years old, not sure how much warranty there was. It is not on a seam, it torn where the pool makes an inside corner (it is a grecian style, too many corners). The liner has faded out pretty bad, I think the sun got the best of it.
After battling cloudy water for the past couple of months, we found this site and got our pool looking great in no time. Now, our liner has busted so it seems all our hard work is for naught. In the process now of getting estimates for the replacement and we will be doing all the water testing...
Frustratedpoolmom, I think you should be eligible. If I remember the rules, the members will be voting; so they can decide if you should win. Besides, its not like there is a huge monetary reward involved. I don't see why anyone should have objections. Just my opinion.
This is not really a pet...

She thinks the only reason we get in the pool is to throw her ball to her.

We have now cleared up the problem we had last week when we found this site. Now have recent test results.
FC - 12 (coming down from shock level of 20 over past few days)
TC - 10
CC - 0 (these numbers are best guess from dilution method...
Thanks, I really appreciate the quick response here. I have made so many tests with the kit I bought, I don't think it would be fair to return it even if they would take it back. It is a good kit except for the FAS/DPD. I have now ordered that kit to supplement mine. I think this will be fine.
I have been on the site for less than a week and have already cleared up a problem I had been struggling with for the past month and a half. Thanks.
I went to the Leslie's pool store in town and bought a test kit as soon as I signed on here so I could get started testing my own water. The kit I...
I am ready to close out this chapter. Thanks to everyone who gave instructions. The pool looks great now, chlorine has held steady for 2 days. I have added some water now since I had been backwashing frequently and the level was getting low. That brought the chlorine level down some, and I...
Thanks frustratedpoolmom for that info. I will try to get that addition to my kit. The one I have gives instructions on diluting the sample and then multiplying results to read levels higher than 5. I suppose that is not too accurate, but it will have to do for now.
I got the level to 20 (best...
Hey Reebok,
Thanks for your reply. I had already found the correct shock level at the link you listed and I have added the necessary bleach according to the pool calculator. I got the best kit available at Leslie's pool store, I know that was better than waiting for one that I had to order...
Ok, I got the test kit from Leslie pool store. It is a DPD test kit with Taylor regents. I vacuumed the pool, backwashed the filter, and tested the water.
FC - 5 ( 4 gallons of bleach were added at about 11 am)
TC - 5
CC - 0 (if I did the math right)
PH - 7.2
TA - 95
CH - 420
CYA - 50
Should...
Ok, we have added 4 more gallons of bleach. I am on my way to get a test kit now. Town is 50 miles away. This seems like an awful lot of bleach to be pouring in here, are you guys sure about this? I will have accurate test results this evening, if the store has the kit.
I notice from the...
Since the end of May, we have been unable to maintain a chlorine reading in our pool. Been getting the water tested at the pool store. Everything checks out ok, except chlorine is below 1. They tested for phosphates and said ours was "off the charts", so we have been putting in phosfree to deal...
Hello, my wife and I have just found this site and think it will be a good source of info for us. We have had our pool for 9 summers now. Never had much problem with it until this year. We are struggling with some problems now and hope this site can help us.
