LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Oh, I forgot to mention....I think that white sediment is DE. My thought is that with as fine of a powder it is, a certain amount of that I would think would be able to enter through the slots in the laterals. Yes or No?

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, I busted rear last night after work. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong lateral assembly, but got lucky once I got my current one out. The crack I fixed last year is still doing just fine, and none of the laterals were damaged, so I took the assembly apart and cleaned all of the sand out of...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Thanks for the link. I will read that over at 'work' today. hehe.......yesterday I was in golf mode, so I didnt do a single thing to the pool besides hang a sock full of stabilizer, backwash and add DE. Didn't add a single ounce of bleach. We had a day mixed of sun, clouds, and rain. Here's...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Yep, sounds good. I have been searching for parts for the filter....SP714T Valve, and S220 Lateral Assembly....thinking about just buying them both and be done with it. Anything to watch out for or is there anything else I need to get? I'm assuming when I buy the valve assembly, it's just simply...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, since we've been backwashing more than normal, we've been putting in more fresh water, and we've also had a little help from the sky(rain). Just retested CYA, and the dot is more visible than last time. Safe to add stabilizer?

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Im beginning to think there's a new issue, or it's a bigger issue now...because I'm starting to see some sand settling in the bottom of the low end right where the return jet is. I've always had a little sand in the sight glass when I backwash. Last year when we had the liner put in, I replaced...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, still only loosing 1 ppm of FC overnight. Here's a picture of the low end, and one of the deep end. Should I be able to see the deepend as clear as the lowend? Trying to get an idea as to when I'm officially TFP clear. You can see down the walls of the deepend and where they meet the floor...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Well, the DE is working it's magic. I am starting to see the floor drain in the deep end and the shallow end is nearly back to it's clear state. Before I went to bed last night, I checked the FC. It was at 15, and it called for 3 qts. to bring it up to 18. I just put the whole jug in and...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Oh, one other question. My clean gauge pressure was 16 before I added the DE, and 17 after the DE, can someone just confirm with me what pressure I want to backwash at? Im sitting at 20 right now......I think I will backwash and replenish to be safe for the evening...don't need anymore unwanted...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ah, ok......that's good info to have. It did seem like a potent powder since I only needed to add 20-24oz(I forget) to bring it from 7.0 to 7.4ish. Thanks for the input Dave.

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

It seems at this point, I need to add more stabilizer because I lose so much FC during the day. Yay or Nay?

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, so we expelled some water and replaced it with fresh....it's nothing much at all...only about an inch worth. I put in 1 cup of DE that brought our clean PSI up from 16 to 17. Today is Day 4 after our CYA broadcast(just enough to bump it 10-15ppm), and it's still reading less than 30. The...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

No, we didnt get a chance to grab the DE yet....I will do that tomorrow after work.

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Is it safe to say that if I were to pass an OCLT right now that it would be alright to swim in even though it's cloudy? Using the Taylor Watergram wheel, when I hold the 500 CH at 90 TA, and turn the arrow to 7.4 for pH, the saturation index reads 0.1 for 78* water....I just measured the temp...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, so yesterday around noon we had to leave for a day trip. I added 1 jug of bleach to bump it up to 18, and decided to add a little clarifier to see if it would help the clarity at all. We just got home, so we were away for about 32 hours. No noticeable change in the clarity of the water, and...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, so I didn't add any bleach since 5pm yesterday, and we're at 14 fc.....Im assuming that's pretty good for a 16 hour span???

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

you can only see maybe a foot down the slope....if you look at the third picture from my last post of pictures, that was really close to being fully clear in the deepend....now you can't even see a brush head or vac. head in the deepend.

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Let me ask a quick question....we've been doing this SLAM thing for 2 weeks now....it's a 21k gal. pool....I lost count at 50+ gallon of 8.25% bleach we've gone through(I think we're closer to the 80-90 gallon as far as gallons purchased, with 13 gallons on hand right now) ....is this...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

This was the testing last night: cc: 0 fc: 13.5 pH: 7.0 TA: 90 CH: 500 CYA: less than 30 After that testing, I tried to bring up pH to 7.5....just tested again, and still at 7.0

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Well, while the site was acting up, I decided to get a little 'cute' with my water...no idea if I went back a few steps or not, but the pH has been low, and still no CYA showing up in my testing, so I decided to try and bring the pH up to 7.5 with some sodium carbonate, and also put a sock in...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Well, I just got home from work and jumped in the pool to pull the light out. Needless to say, I was greeted by the dreaded green monster, algae. Cleaned up the cord, light, and socket. Im going to let the light out for a day to let it dry out because Im sure there are some small crevices that I...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Ok, so a little update. I haven't let up on this pool since we started last Saturday, and with the site being down, I just couldnt get a chance to post. Here are some pictures to show the progression. Not sure exactly what days I took them, but I also missed a couple days too. The most recent...

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

I could just barely get my arm down far enough to feel the screw....at full reach, I could produce enough torque to get the screw loose. It's in there pretty good. When they did the liner last year, I remember them putting some new parts around the light. Im guessing a gasket or seal of some sort.

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Gotcha...I understand the lock on the screw part. I will take a gander quick

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Im sure I'll be swimming to the bottom to pick up screws too....no idea how Im going to do this while treading water......maybe I can rig up a sling around the diving board somehow

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

Yeah, I was thinking that even if I could get in the pool, I still don't think I'd be able to get it out due to visibilty. I didn't realize how fast we were going through DPD powder, so we're using test strips until the powder gets here tomorrow.

LAST DITCH EFFORT....and I don't know what to do now

The ladder hasn't been in the pool yet this year at all. We have a light, but it's in the deep end and I have no way of getting it out without entering the pool. Raised shock level to 15-16 before going to work. Just returned home at 5:30 and we had zero. So Im putting in 3 gal. to bring it...
