hello....got the fc back up to slam level and the water is real clear, I threw in the coin and could tell if it was heads or tails (it was heads)....will post pictures in the morning. now working on balancing all the rest of the numbers... :)

the flocculant that worked (by putting it on top of the water with no pump/filter working) was Poolife....the BioGuard natural clarifier did nothing at all to clear the water up.... will be posting pictures later...thanks.

Hi ChemGeek... I will try to find the bottles that I had to tell you the brands... - - - Updated - - - the one thing to note, when I put the same floc in the skimmer, it didn't work...when I stopped the pump and threw the floc out over the top of the water, it worked like magic .....

i can hardly contain my excitement. I got some flocculent and the directions said to halt the pump and throw some on top of the water and wait 24 hours to vacuum up the waste that sinks to the bottom. I did this last night and this afternoon, I can see the bottom of the pool and our water is...

believe me draining and starting over is not want i want to do. i am probably going to have to tear the filter apart and make sure all is good...i have thought about replacing the sand filter with a cartridge....thanks and i will post the results tomorrow night....

I did try the clarifier and noticed nothing. i halted the pump tonight and threw on some flocculent (spelling? ) so i am going o see what if that makes any difference. i was keeping the FC up, but wasn't sure if that was helping or not...i will take a full set of readings again tomorrow...

well, i have done all that i have been told and i still have cloudy water. I am going to start the draining process and refilling the pool. do I need to drain this whole thing and start completely over???

I have a sand filter for an above ground pool. My question is what is the normal range for PSI when it is filtering? mine seems to be staying around 1PSI...I thought it use to be around 5 PSI...

so, I put the stabilizer in the pool this evening and will now wait and see if that step helps at all.... :(

how long would it take for anything to settle after turning off the pump? it has been about 17 hours and the water is still cloudy and nothing seems to be settling to the bottom.....

so with where I am....and the readings I have, what is my next steps to having clear water??

i tore the filter apart when we found and replaced the lateral and we also replaced the gaskets in the valve. I believe all of the sand is out of the pool at this point. If it wasn't for the expense I would replace the sand with a cartridge filter, but our pool size would require an expensive...

I had a reading of FC-21 last night and I have the same reading this morning.....

I am using Taylor K-2006, yes I can do the OCLT tonight and in the morning...

here are the latest readings... FC - 21 CC .5 alkaline - 60 CYA a little above 40 PH is a lighter shade than the 7.0 on my tester here is a couple of pictures..you can see from the steps that you can see the bottom step but is somewhat cloudy..i hope this works, I have never used Photobucket...
