Rate of chlorine loss in a covered pool verses an uncovered pool

I know there is a difference, but can anyone quantify it for me? It seems like when I cover the pool the chlorine lasts a lot longer. Thanks in advance

Plan to get rid of metal stains

The active ingredient is hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid. - - - Updated - - - I have a cartridge filter. Shouldn't some of the iron salts be filtered out when I get them off the vinyl of the pool? I am assuming that the positive iron ion would complex with the negative chloride ion when...

Plan to get rid of metal stains

I bought this at WalMart- the hth metal remover. Is this not acceptable? Will the sequestrant bond with the free iron and wind up in the filter? That's how I see it. Then with a low-iron water pool I use the chlorine and balance to a normal TA and pH and a clear pool and that's it, right?

Plan to get rid of metal stains

I did not test for CYA, assuming it is low to medium. I did have to add water this year, and the only CYA that gets in there is from the pucks that I usually use. After first shocking the pool to make it swimmable, I decided to go after the stains after joining the forum. I let the chlorine...

Water is clear, chemicals are a mess can't fix

Wow. I did not know that. I have using the Chlorine pucks for three years now. I suppose my pool is full of CYA- I have a 30,000 gallon one. There is no way to get rid of CYA except to replace the water- or remove enough to dilute it down. Or is there?

Removing Fe stains on a vinyl pool

Thanks. The TA and pH seemed to normalize nicely when I put the baking soda in- about four pounds total.

Removing Fe stains on a vinyl pool

I have an in-ground 30,000 gallon pool that has gradually been accumulating reddish iron stains over the past four years- when I put a new liner in. To make a long story short, I think I will "shock" it with citric acid. I have read that the effect is almost overnight. I am aware that the pH...
