Thank you. Will the too being loose do anything to the life of the heater?

    Sta rite heater

Hi again We got our sta rite pool heater installed today. Not sure if not matters but it's the natural gas 400 btu. Is the top piece suppose to be a little wobbly or should it be very snug? I am not talking about the button pad cover that slides over the buttons, but the actual top dome part...

    Purpose of these holes

We put a hose up to the hole and could not see it coming out anywhere. It almost seemed like it came right back out

    Purpose of these holes

The 2 holes are different sizes. The one not near the autofill has a female threaded end. The other hole in the 2nd pic is a little bigger and has no thread. When we are in the pool and water is moving water goes in and then comes back out no pressure though just natural splashing in and out. I...

    Purpose of these holes

To clarify the 2nd pic with the pool lid is where the autofill contraption is. About 12" down in the pool there is another hole which I think is the actual fill hole.

    Purpose of these holes

Sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge of what I am about to ask. Along the waterline tile I have 2 different holes and I have no idea what they are for. They stick out like a sore thumb but I'm sure they serve an important purpose. Pool built 1989 Cartridge filter Auto fill feature...

    Spillway surface ideas

sorry I was having issues uploading. My computer is sooooo slooow. and I am realizing I am a terrible photographer :) I posted 1 more. Funny you ask about the tile. I did the top 2 steps and my husband did the rest. I made sure they were pretty darn straight :) He is a tile contractor so we...

    Spa/Pool Na;rural Gas Heater Recommendations

Hi, We are looking to buy a new Spa/Pool Natural gas heater. We have a 19,000 gal pool w/ spa. The old heater that no longer works is a comfort zone (Hayward). I think we are looking for a 350 BTU size unit. Would you be able to share your experience with the Hayward Natural Gas Heaters...

Thanks so much appelbe! It looks beautiful. We are going with the arctic lagoon and bought the tile today :) I can't wait. Hubs is a tile contractor and doing the tile prep right now in the 90 weather ... Poor guy Thank you for sharing all of your pics it definitely helped make the decision a no...

    Pump and filter compatability

thank you! The filters look pretty dirty even though we cleaned them 3 weeks ago. Pool guy said it was probably time to change so hopefully that's the only problem. Maybe just a coincidence with our sweep breaking at the same time as new pump was going in. While I'm here asking about this I...

    Pump and filter compatability

Thank you. I do not recall. It was an AO E-plus, but I imagine that could be anything. The service guy who installed it told us this new one was more powerful, but that's all I really know. The prior pump did run the spa and pool fine so I guess my first questions answer is yes :) - - -...

    Spillway surface ideas

It's so hard to decide. I haven't been able to find a glass mosaic to match a slate blue tile (other than the one I posted in my very first post in this thread. But I don't love that mosaic as much as the Arctic Lagoon.) My pool doesn't have too many bells and whistles so I feel like the...

    Pump and filter compatability

Hi - We have owned our home for 1 year and are first time pool owners. Our equipment is quite old, maybe original from 1990, but was working until recently. Our pump ended up breaking so we had a refurbished newer one installed. It has more power than our old one, but after using our sweep...

I went back and we found the Arctic Lagoon sample. It does not match the blue waterline tile we originally selected, but it looks nice with the light tan color. I think the Arctic Lagoon sample looks more "rich" than the other blue mosaic that is the bottom picture. Which one do you guys think?

    Diamond Brite - Exposed aggregate

The PB said to expose surface they will do an acid wash and power wash. Is the power wash necessary or overkill or part of the acid wash process? I just want it to look like the sample and they didn't mention "water washing w/ brushes", but I still need to ask about that. Thanks!

    Diamond Brite - Exposed aggregate

Do you think I should insist on an acid wash or the I. Water Washing With Brushes? When looking at the SGM application online it says an acid wash is not necessary if Water Washing with brushes technique is used? I am in Northern CA so cold weather is not an issue. This is a re-plaster...

ComputerguyinNOLA - Thanks for sending the link - those are some beautiful mosaics I enjoyed that site very much. Unfortunately we have to have our tile completed in the next 2 weeks. SuzfromTexas - Thank you for your insight on the blue tile vs mosaic dilemma that I am currently having :) I...

    Diamond Brite - Exposed aggregate

Thank you I thought it was strange it wasn't in the bid from the start and was casually brought up when I was selecting colors from the samples. Kinda scary - hoping for the best at this point. :/

    Diamond Brite - Exposed aggregate

Hi I am trying to find what the actual surface looks like for Diamond Brite. I see the swatches from the mfg., but don't see many actual pool owners surfaces. If you have a Diamond Brite can you post a picture up close and let me know what method of exposing the surface was used (Acid Wash or...

Your pool and deck is gorgeous Appelbe. Thanks for sharing your picture. I like how the mosaic on your steps and spillway tie together the look. I think we are sold on mosaic now! Can you share where you got your mosaic tile from? Thanks again!

    Spillway surface ideas

Do you have any ideas of what we can use to update this spillway other than using the same tile as the waterline tile? We looked into granite but that seems like a huge slip hazard and we looked into slate wall cap but wasn't sold on that idea. We are resurfacing the pool and replacing the...

    Full Chip Out required?

We recently received 4 pool quotes in our area for pool resurfacing. We are really liking one company who so far has shown the best customer service and interest in giving us a nice lasting pool finish etc. This one we are thinking of going with is slightly above the prices of the other, but...
