    Liner pulled away from skimmer.

I can try and post a pic, but it has alot of silicone around it right now. I drained below this skimmer yesterday, filled in some holes with silicone and refilled overnight. Still leaking bad this morning. Wish I had read your reply before refilling! The patch sounds like a better idea. Thanks...

    Liner pulled away from skimmer.

After the DH decided to drain and clean the pool this year, and left it empty too long :hammer: , in the process the liner pulled away from the bottom of the skimmer about 1/2". We used silicone a couple weeks ago and it was doing fine till yesterday. Any suggestions on a better way to repair...

    I have a dumb question...

Since the DH decided to drain the pool and clean it this year we now have fresh water. :) Since Sunday I have added 3 bags of shock and 2 pucks, In order to get my cya up, since it registered 0 when testing. (We have city water). The kids swam alot yesterday and we've had some hot...

    Frogs???

Our pool has a walkway all the way around it. Every evening, just as it is getting dark, you can go out and see them lined up like little soldiers on the walkway!

    Possible Liner Problem?

Thank you again! The liner is against the wall now. Just one more question. The only difference I can see is the fact that the bottom seam is 1 ft up the wall on 3 sides, and on the floor on the above side. Is this going to be a problem?

    Possible Liner Problem?

Re: Possible Liner Problem? New pic added. Thank you so much for your replies. I was physically unable to work on it before he got home. He finished yesterday and started refilling. We have a vacuum hose between the liner and wall, but the liner has pulled away from the wall at the bottom...

    Possible Liner Problem?

The DH decided to drain the pool this year to clean it because we don't have a winter cover and he doesn't close it properly. He was unable to finish before he had to go out of town. Therefore, it has been sitting with approx 1/2" of water in the corners for the past week and it will probably be...

    Is this dead algae?

Thanks dattia. It's been a pretty bad year all the way around. But, I'm determined to have it clear at least by August 14 for my oldest granddaughters bday party! Thanks for your help!

    Is this dead algae?

Yes. I added exactly as it said, and ran the pump for approx 7 hrs after. (it says 8). Turned it off cause of the storm, and then vacuumed the next morning. Now this bottle is approx 2 yrs old, so I'm assuming it is still good.

    Is this dead algae?

This mornings results: FC 10.5 CC 0.5 TC 11.0 PH 7.6 TA 70 CYA 20 (Tested earlier this week, 2 times) I know I need to get this up a little, but I am home all day, so I'm gonna live with it for now. Besides, I tested wrong last Sun, (35), so I was shocking to 16 all week anyway! A...

    Is this dead algae?

I think this is probably dead algae, but any comments would be appreciated. [attachment=0:6aavaj7l]071011951106[00].jpg[/attachment:6aavaj7l] This is looking down, at a side of the pool. Vacuumed a bunch yesterday, and using a skimmer sock. Can only see about 1/3 down. Still shocking...day #8.

    Drop my shock level?

Again, another good point. Hadn't really thought of it that way. (Oh, this mid-life brain fog is driving me crazy) So, according to Chemgeeks shock level for mustard algae with cya of 20 it's 12.7 and Jason says the FC test can be off +/- 1.5, and I tested as high as 18 one day, I...

    Drop my shock level?

Yea, it's been running 24/7 while shocking. Although, that may have been my problem sunday when I checked it since we had a problem with the pump that day. I was pretty confident with my reading that day. Rechecked my cya, twice. It's 20. :( I guess the good thing is I won't have to worry...

    Drop my shock level?

That's a good point about the 50% drop. I will retest my cya. My biggest concern is if I misread on 7/3 that my cya was 40 and I have been using a shock level of 16, what have I done? At one time this week I overshot to FC 18! And the kids have been swimming. We have not noticed any skin...

    Drop my shock level?

Sorry. I added 143 oz of bleach at 830pm to reach 16. (Didn't retest after since I'm low on reagent). Then when I tested this morning it is 16.5. 7/3 cya 35-40 Changed shock level from 10 to 16. 7/5 Added approx 1/2 - 1 inch of water. 7/6 Hard rain for about 1 hour 7/7 cya 20 7/6 2pm added...

    Drop my shock level?

This is my 3rd year doing BBB and I thought I had it figured out...but guess I was wrong. Once again, I've had multiple issues this year, so pool is still not clear. I have been shocking to clear it. (last week the filter was not hooked up properly so I don't count that week). On 7/3...

    Overshot my shock level!

Yea, that's what was so strange. Just checked them on sunday and they were 0.5. Water has not been clear thus far due to multiple issues. Probably need to recheck CC. Also, probably a good thing it was 18 last night since we had a downpour!

    Overshot my shock level!

Trying to clear my water. Shock level 16. Counted 28 drops at 7pm FC 14. Added 63 oz of 6% bleach. Did not recheck since reagents are a little low. Kids wanted to swim. Noticed a strong smell at 9pm when I went to recheck for the night and it tested at 18! I think the eye needs to be...

PH and high FC- safe levels to swim?

We are looking at a 1 hp Hayward vs the 3/4 hp we have now. Is that a good idea, or not?

PH and high FC- safe levels to swim?

Seems now I'm having pump issues. Getting hot and turning off. How long should I run it after adding bleach, or with shocking do I need to run it 24/7. Plans are to order one, and hopefully replace it this week. (Again, this pump is 25yrs old, so I guess it's time).

PH and high FC- safe levels to swim?

Thanks Dave! I would prefer they wait till it's clear but I don't think I can hold them off any longer. :)

PH and high FC- safe levels to swim?

We have yet to swim this year due to multiple issues and the grandkids are beating the door down! I think we are on the verge but have a few questions. During a leak repair I developed algae and have been shocking to 10 since loosing my cya in the partial drain. Water is lt...

    Plumbing problem?

Found my problem! I should have checked 2 days ago when you mentioned it, but he has the hookups wrong! So now my question is, I have been shocking since sunday, with the hookups wrong I know I have sand in my pool but has it just been circulating the water and just not filtering it? If it...

    Plumbing problem?

I asked him about moving the filter. He says he never turned it on it's side when moving it, picked it straight up and moved it inch by inch. (He has a habit of doing 1st and asking questions later) sigh! He tells me that 2 yrs ago one of the laterals broke and he glued it back together. As far...

Thanks Kevin, I think it is ok, but will check. Afraid so Dave. In the 2nd pic on the left, you can see under the deck. That is where he moved it from.
