Another possible question.....Can the LCD be replaced as a separate component? It looks like it's attached to the circuit board with a small wiring harness. I wasn't sure if those drives can be fixed at component level.

After reading your link, it looks pretty easy to wire. However, where would you find a set of relays like this that would allow you to see/control the speeds from a seperate interface? Maybe via your phone? Also, it looks like this relay would run from the power supplied from the drive...
