    SLAMING my neighbors pool

For financial reasons she wants to get more year out of the liner, it doesn't look terrible but I am worried about her stairs, those don't replace easily. So high FC will set the copper stains? Yikes! She just spent money on CYA and all this chlorine so replacing a lot water might scare her...

    SLAMING my neighbors pool

I am trying to help my neighbor clear her pool. She has a vinyl liner 26,000 gal pool. Cartridge filter and Trinton whisperflow pump. Her old pool guy has a blue mineral unit in her filter basket, which I had never heard of until I Googled it. She has also shocked her pool a few weeks ago and it...

Ok thanks. I’ll look so that! Pouring rain here today but I’ll remove those bolts tomorrow. :)

    Pump Died.....

The motor has a loud squeal when it runs. And when you turn it on it “knocks” then will generally start but runs really rough. Not a consistent “purr”. Hope that helps!

    Pump Died.....

Oh sorry. Yeah motor failed. Everything else seems to work fine. So you are saying I could just buy a 2 speed pump and new timer instead of replacing the whole unit? This unit was manufactured in 2011.

    Pump Died.....

Yeah not worried about automation. The pool needs new plaster and tile so that’s where most of our pool reno budget will go! [emoji4]

    Pump Died.....

Yes. Good idea. I’ll look into the rebates. The booster pump was replaced 3 years ago and my Polaris 280 is only 2 years old so I don’t see myself replacing it anytime soon. But those robots look pretty amazing!

    Pump Died.....

Date on pump says 9/22/2011..... Power supply is 120v I have no idea what the blue thing is. I was wondering the same thing myself. Here is a picture closer up.

    Pump Died.....

Good morning! Our pool pump died. It’s an older Pentair superflo single speed 3/4 HP. With 1 1/2” plumbing that goes to 2 inch. See attached pic. I would like to upgrade it to a 2 speed at least. No water fountains or spas. Not concerned with automation just would like to to be more energy...

Left my test kit in the sun...

Hello, I accidentally left my TF-100 kit on the back of my tailgate for a couple hours on hot day (100 degrees). My r-0871 leaked all over the bottom of my kit and the next time tested my chlorine it was off the charts. I am assuming I need to replace it? So do I need to replace just that one or...

    Am I doing this right?

Ok I'll try that. I'll test it right now. FC: 12 CC: .5 Thanks I actually just realized my jugs are 121 oz not 96 oz so that changes things a little....my pool calculator on my phone defaulted to 96oz and I didn't notice. So that's why I am at 12 instead of my target of 8. Sent from my...

    Am I doing this right?

Hello, I successfully cleared my swampy pool thanks to TFP method and some wise folks on this forum. So thankful! Now I am maintaining it using only bleach but I seem to be burning through the bleach a lot quicker than I anticipated. My cya is 40. So I have been bumping up my chlorine to 8...

    Clearing our swamp

I threw a quarter in the deep end (9.5 feet). I can almost make out heads or tails but not quite. The cc this morning was 0! Wow never been zero! I think I am going to let the FC level drift down and see if the algae on the steps return. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What do you guys think? Better? Passing the overnight test and cc is slightly less than .5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Clearing our swamp

Ok. I think I just identified more algae where the plaster blistered. That is new today. I could actually see the screws on the main drain a day ago but I'll bring back up to shock level again because they are fuzzy today. Darn it! Thought I had it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Clearing our swamp

Really? We I am no expert so I am open for advice. There is a lot of staining on the bottom of the pool from leaves and debris and the plaster is in bad shape so I assumed this was as good as it gets since it pasted the overnight chlorine test and the cc is .5. So should I keep slambing...

    Clearing our swamp

Yes! Sorry been sick then out of town. I am happy to report as of 2 days ago I am officially done SlAMBing! You guys are awesome and I am sooooo thankful for the TFP method. It took about 4.5 weeks but now we are alge free and my husband went swimming yesterday. It cost us around $450 to clear...

    Clearing our swamp

No today I am getting very little flo (not visible on the surface) even after I backwash on the return eyeball furthest from the pump. I've been backwashing when the pressure rises by 10-12%. I am assuming pump is on high. Not sure how to change the speed, I'll go look at my manual to...

    Clearing our swamp

Re: Trouble with FC test? Oh that makes sense. The water sample sat in my car for 1.5 hours before going to the pool store. I'll remember that for next time but I sure hope I don't have to take another water sample in, they just keep trying to sell me algaecide and shock and look at me like I...
