Hooking Automatic Irrigation Valve to Jandy PDA

I hadn't heard of the fabric idea. That usually isn't done here in Texas. I wonder if it is a regional spoil type thing. My soil is like digging in a rock garden. The fill line comes out between a boulder and my bond beam. I couldn't put in a pot because of the city requirements. I would have...

Hooking Automatic Irrigation Valve to Jandy PDA

I think I fixed the image links. I was sad that Photobucket changed their policies. I just deleted my Photobucket account. I am sad my old poolbuild thread probably is vacant of photos. I downloaded them but it will be a bunch of work to get them back online.

Hooking Automatic Irrigation Valve to Jandy PDA

Hi all! I haven't posted in awhile so I figured I would post something I figured out. I had to pull the info from a bunch of different places and had to piece together the info so I figured having it all in one place might help. Backstory: I wanted an autofill when my pool was built. But...

    Yet another Texas pool build!

Haha true. Hopefully after the warranty issue is fixed with my deck then I'll be all done. The pool itself is very rock solid. I hope it stays that way :) Some of the pavers are hotter than others. The coping pavers are easy to stand on in the heat. The flagstone shaped ones depend on the...

    Yet another Texas pool build!

Ok latest update! My pool is complete as far as the construction phase. They have completed basically the entire punch list. Now I have some work that is warranty that they are going to get the paver sub to come out and fix because a few of my pavers are sinking so they have to fix it...

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

I am officially done I think! I do have to clean out my drain again because we got a huge storm 2 days ago and there were tons of leaves in the pool. Here are my levels as of today (it has taken quite awhile for my FC to drop after the SLAM). FC - 10 CC - 0.5 CYA - 70 PH - 7.5 TA - 70 CH - 375...

    Green swamp

Congrats on no more green!! You need to keep the FC level at 20 as much as you can until you pass the 3 requirements to stop the SLAM: 1. Clear water 2. Pass your OCLT 3. CC < 0.5

New Pool Build - Northern California

I totally agree with the Jandy software. I have the PDA and the remote is horrible. Half of the time lines don't show up on the display, it seems to get confused a lot when syncing, and it takes forever to boot. I should design my own automation setup. Nevermind I am not that crazy.

    Green swamp

Piolin is right. With a CYA of 50, a FC of 12 isn't slam level. You'll want to use pure bleach (or chlorinating liquid from walmart etc...) to get your FC up to 20. The CC of 1.5 says that your FC is working and killing stuff but you aren't at a FC level given your CYA to kill off the algae...

Might have to do first slam

What was your CC level at? After 4 days of slamming my pool was passing the OCLT but my CC was 1ppm.

    Another in Texas - Cypress

You would be surprised how much a frog can move around your pool. I had one alive in mine and was trying to catch it with my skimmer pole and it was tough. Took me 15 minutes. I would hope they would come across it.

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

This is a lot of the junk I got out of my main drain. I took this photo the day after so it is dry but it was kind of cool to see some of the leaves were spotted from being in the pool for a long time. - - - Updated - - - They were inside the drain you couldn't see them. My 12 year old...

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

I am finally done! OCLT passed again last night and my last two CC readings were 0. I have a sparkling pool again! Thanks for the help! The problem was that darn main drain. I am going to have to come up with a better way to maintain it.

Might have to do first slam

I ran the low speed during the slam. My water was pretty clean the entire time I just realized I needed a slam because my SWG couldn't keep up with the demand. I think if your pool normally seems fine then keep what you are doing and slam. If your water doesn't clear up after a few days of...

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

Ok so my wife got me some cheap goggles at 5 below and I figured out the attachment for my shop vac that I use for the cars fits the vacuum hose for my pool. I shut off the main drain and dove about 50 times and used my fingers and vacuum to suck as many leaves as I could. I then put the main...

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

I don't know what it is called. It is rectangular and the cover is screwed on and it gets plastered to look nicer. You can see it in this photo.

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

Grrrr. My CC was 1 again this morning. I am pretty sure it is junk in my main drain. I found a bunch of old leaves in there. It is the new rectangular type of drain. I can barely get down there to get the junk out. Today I am going to try to put all the flow on my main drain and turn my pump...

Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Even if it was a headache it was worth it! My headache is now a low drone headache but it is still there. I am still dealing with my PB. They just were out to my house this past Tuesday. I posted about my slam in the algae section. It turned out fine and I passed and my chlorine is dropping...

    Another in Texas - Cypress

Wow that is a pretty pool. I need to go to cypress sometime to see all these amazing pools! I think between you and Suz you hit them out of the park. I like Nursenini's too but she isn't in Texas :)

Possible Mustard algae with CYA 80

Congrats!!! I passed my OCLT and CC now but I realized my main drain has a bunch of old leaves in it and I am worried that it might cause me problems later. I honestly don't know how to get them out. I created a new post about it. I don't want to have to unscrew it all the time to get leaves...

    Retangular main drain collects leaves

I have one of those new rectangular main drains that prevents drowning and I noticed tonight there is quite a bit of junk in it. Probably not that bad because I know stuff ends up in my filter basket but I need a easy way to suck the stuff out of it. Is there a vacuum attachment that I could...

Possible Mustard algae with CYA 80

Thanks for the post on the CYA! Mine has dropped to 50 too so it must be a Texas SLAM with high CYA? When I first got my pool I was scared of the CYA because I thought it would be impossible to get rid of but I can't seem to keep enough of it at the house because it is constantly dropping. I...

    Help algae and cloudiness

Also make sure you are using the appropriate FAS/DPD chlorine test. It sounds like you are using the OTO color scale test because you said your FC is >5. You'll want to make sure to use the FAS/DPD so you can determine exactly how much chlorine is in your water. Also are you using the R-0013...

Need to SLAM my pool... 1st timer here...

Yey so I think the CC level might have been due to people swimming yesterday in the afternoon. Then there was a bunch of leaves in the pool which I got out but I think today was good. So this morning at 5:30 I tested and I didn't lose any FC at all. The CC was 1. I went back to bed and went...

Possible Mustard algae with CYA 80

I am super anal and was being very careful with the tests. I ran two tests back to back on the same sample and I would expect maybe 1 or 2 ppm difference between the samples but using my old bottle that I bought last year when my pool was being built I was at 56 drops to get the pink to...

1st SLAM - Follow Along with Me, Please

I think when you are so high during a SLAM you lose more chlorine than you do at normal levels. I am seeing a ton of FC loss too and I think part of it is it is so insanely hot in Texas right now. I even have my SWG on and I am still having to add between 1 to 2 gallons a day even with the...

Possible Mustard algae with CYA 80

You might be able to buy a small amount of reagent at Leslies and then compare to your reagent and see if you get similar numbers. If not then order another bottle from TF test kits and use the one from leslies until you get the other bottle. They usually ship pretty fast I have always gotten...
