    Fresh fill cloudy

I did a fresh fill for my 260 gallon bromide spa 2 days ago. I first added 2 oz. of Mineral Clear as directed by the spa store. After letting that filter thru the spa for 24 hours, I rinsed the filter and proceeded to balance the chemical levels. I added 2 oz of Brominating Concentrate and...

    Water Cloudy

Is there anything else I can do to lower my bromine besides cranking down the feeder and waiting?

    Water Cloudy

Is my pH high because my Bromine is high? Should I be adding any Muratic acid to lower it?

    Water Cloudy

Actually I'm using Bromine not chlorine. Should I not bother testing for FC in that case? When I tested the Bromine levels, the color was burnt orange. My pH was dark lavender. Neither of those colors are on their respective charts. Does that mean those levels are super high? What numbers do...

    Water Cloudy

My 260 gallon hot tub has been great for the past 2 months. Water clear, chemical levels good. Lately, the temp has been going up to 108 even though I have it set at 80. Dealer is coming out to look at that. Now the water is clouding up. pH is 8.0, TA went from light blue to yellow when I...

Questions about FC vs Bromine; CH, pH and TA

I've been reading the Pool School info and the various links that you have referred me to, but I'm a little bit of a slow learner. Here are several questions with regards to balancing the water in my spa. 1. Since I use bromine, do I need to test the FC levels? Or should I just focus on...

    Fluctuating pH

I'm using Bromine, which has also been testing high. So what should I do first? Lower the FC so I get a more accurate oN reading? How do I do that?

    Fluctuating pH

I have been testing my chemical levels every day for the past 5 days. My FC started at 18 and has slowly decreased to 9. TA has been a constant 50. My pH has been 7.2. Pool Math tells me to add 1/2 an ounce of Borax, and when I do, the pH goes up to 7.6, but then the TA goes down to 30. When...

Difference readings with different test kits

I have a Taylor K-2006 kit that I use for everything except testing Bromine. I bought a Rainbow Lifegard kit that only tests pH and Bromine. When I tested pH using the Taylor and the Rainbow, I got drastically different readings. Taylor read 7.4 and Rainbow read above 8.4. The Bromine...

    TA test is red

When I'm doing the various tests, is it okay to use a large container to scoop out the spa water and then pour it into the test kit container (so I don't have to go outside in fridged temps more than once). Does anything change chemically if the water sits for 10-15 minutes while I'm testing?

    TA test is red

Before I saw your reply, I used pH-Up and brought the pH up to 7.4. I re-tested the TA and now it turns green and the reading is 50. Should I raise the pH any higher? 260 gal., outdoor, bromine, cartridge filter

    TA test is red

I stopped counting after 50 drops with a 25ml sample. Then I used a 10ml sample and stopped counting at 40. It never changed color.

    TA test is red

I tried testing the TA in my spa using the Taylor K-2006. I added 2 drops of R-0007 with no color change. But when I added 5 drops of R-0008, it turned red instead of green. When I tested my pH, it was extremely low (don't know if that info helps). What gives? These past two days there were...

Trying to get my water balanced

AfterI add the bleach, how long should I run it before I add the Ahh-Some?

Trying to get my water balanced

I'll drain it. The directions on the Ahh-Some said that adequate sanitizer has to be present during treatment. Can I use bleach? How much do I use?

Trying to get my water balanced

I've read Pool School, I've bought a Taylor K2006 and did the Pool Math, but my outdoor spa looks like the black lagoon (funky smell and scum around the edge). When testing for FC, I had to add NUMEROUS (10+) dippers of R-0870 to get the 10ml sample to turn the faintest pink. When I added the...

Test Kit for my hot tub

Thank you for all the great information! I've already ordered the Taylor K-600 kit and started reading the Dichlor/bleach info. I look forward to having a sparkling, fresh smelling spa soon.

Typically there are two people using it for 30-45 minutes 2-3 times per week.

Test Kit for my hot tub

I'm very new to this website and am trying to sort out all the great information. I have a 260 gallon outdoor hot tub (purchased August 2014) and am currently using Bromine (Frog with Bromine and Silver Chloride cartridges). I'm using AquaChek test strips. I'm trying to figure out if I want...
