Problem with 25 years old Hayward Micro Clear DE Filter.

Thanks Lake, sorry for the delayed reply. I will look to get the recommended test material. Just one point though, a week ago I took water sample to Leslie’s for testing and results were not very off. They told me to increase the alkanity and then shock the pool. I use both liquid chlorine...

Problem with 25 years old Hayward Micro Clear DE Filter.

My Hayward micro clear DE filter (DE4800) is 25+ years old. I replaced the grids 3 years ago. Until last year it worked fine. This year completely different story. It slows down after running for 2-3 hours. I have opened the filter many times to wash and clean. I do not see any extraordinary...

Seeking advice for a new filter

Thanks Mark. I remember reading on one of these pool forums that people use a little bit of DE in cartridge filter for extra filtering. Was not aware of Jack’s filter fiber but good to know.

Seeking advice for a new filter

Thanks Herman, Yippee, Flying T, and Oly. Looks like two votes are for DE and two for sand. Most reviews do favor DE filter over others because the ability to pick up the smallest particles. However, I am also thinking about ease in maintenance. Herman- existing pipes and spacing is also on my...

How to repair/seal gap all around the pool and cracks on deck.

HiddenRiver, do you remember if any rubber or foam type material was also inserted in the ap between the coping and deck prior to putting in Sikaflex. I was reading an article on the topic which says such material should be used alongside sealing product. Thx.

How to repair/seal gap all around the pool and cracks on deck.

Hello all, Please take a look at the photos I have posted. I need some advice as to what would be the best way to repair (or seal): 1. The cracks in concrete around the skimmer area. 2. The gap that goes all around the pool. Water is seeping in freezing during winter and pushing the tiles...

Not sure if the pump suddenly died or there is an electrical problem

Hi Roger, I was able to go through the steps and have completed the tests to check the power. It is now confirmed there is power at the motor. Since this is a 15+ years old pump & motor, it would be better for us to replace the entire thing instead of just replacing the motor. Thanks again for...

Not sure if the pump suddenly died or there is an electrical problem

I bought the non contact voltage tester (Klein Tools NCVT-3) to check the power at the pump but it didn't help me. I am not getting any signal where the cable is going in to the pump or the entire length of the conduit to the switch in the electrical box. The cable is made of rubber type of...

Not sure if the pump suddenly died or there is an electrical problem

Thanks a lot AftonJeeper. I will get that non contact tester and check for power at the pump. Please see attached photo of the pump, I think the best spot to check would be where that thick cable on the right side is going in to the pump.

Not sure if the pump suddenly died or there is an electrical problem

As I have been doing everyday this summer, yesterday afternoon I turned on the pump switch from the box. There was a slight sparking sound (like zzzzzzz ), pump ran for a second and then all quiet. I turned the switch on and off a few times to check but nothing happened. This Hayward...

Unsure of the Saftey of the Underwater Pool Lights installed in 1989

Thanks again Richard and Jblizzle. I believe now it's making a bit more sense to me. So the wires from the light fixture in the pool and the wires from the panel (running underground in the pipe) are connected at the deck box. If that connection is cut at the deck box, electricity won't flow to...
