    Summer number 2 and BBB

Hi, sorry, busy day yesterday. Yesterday was cloudy and rainy all day and I didn't need to add any chlorine. This morning: FC 4 CC 0 TA 140 CYA 30-40 ( I have a really hard time doing this test for some reason) PH 7.5 These are like little stains that don't disappear with the vacuum. I...

    Summer number 2 and BBB

Well my second summer is coming to a close. It has been an awesome summer with our solar heat always keeping us in the 85-90, since the end of May even up to 95 degree temps for a couple nights. Sadly, we need to close our pool up next week as we are leaving for a month to visit hubby's family...

around outside of AG pool deco

We put small simple 1 - 1 1/2 foot border of rocks all around the pool and it looks really neat and tidy. I can't imagine how muddy it would get if you would leave grass and dirt all around. I also don't think you want weeds/grass growing roots under your pool.

Taylor K-2106 In Orlando Or Buffalo?

waterloo mom, there seems to be a Leslie's pool store in Amherst buffalo. I don't know if they carry the specific test kit you need but they carry alot of taylor products including my kit. I wonder though if you'd need to double check their stock before going though? We go to Buffalo for...

I wonder what the neighbours think...

There is something very cool about telling people......yeah I just put some acid in this morning and now I have to make lots of bubbles to make the pool better. I personally love the secret society MA outfit: shorts and tank top, sunglasses on (can never find safety glasses), gardening gloves...

I wonder what the neighbours think...

I'm on my second day/cycle of lowering TA and then aerating the PH back up. I've got the eyeball pointing up, creating a big loud obnoxious splash fountain, but it works really good to raise my PH from 7.1 back up to 7.5 Hee hee I wonder if my neighbours think I've gone crazy and this is new...

    Is this really it ?????

Yeah...well it's 30 something degrees here and the pool got up to a balmy 77!!!!! I guess I was shocked at the 73 because yesterday when we took the cover off it was 64. Last year we were happy if the pool reached 75, the weather sucked so bad. We, canadians were in the pool all day! EH! My...

    Is this really it ?????

I feel like something really bad is about to happen. This is my first opening since we put the pool in last year. Things seem to have gone too perfect. In April I stuck my hand in the pool, under the cover, and took a sample, chlorine was still very high. <4 I stopped counting because I didn't...

Is it normal to lose about a foot of water over winter?

Hi, I'm located in Southwestern Ontario. When we closed our pool for the first time last year I took the water down about 6 inches below the skimmer. When we took the cover off yesterday, the water was down another good foot. Is this normal? I can't see any obvious leaks right now. One...

Taylor K-2106 In Orlando Or Buffalo?

Waterloo mom. The only place I could find the test kit or the regeants was Acapulco pools. I've asked everywhere....and I had asked the exact same question as you, last year. I went today to Acapulco pools on Victoria street to buy more regeants and they wouldn't sell to a "residential...

dpd powder has a black tinge???

Hello all! Happy Spring! I opened my pool to sparkling water thanks to BBB. I was looking at my chemicals and noticed that my DPD powder (which is about 4/5th done) has gotten a black tinge to it. Has this gone bad?

What should I do with my pool if I'm gone all September

I thought for sure I'd read somewhere around here that you can close too early. Great to know. I will just close early. Are you sure I shouldn't leave the filter on either?

What should I do with my pool if I'm gone all September

I was thinking about it, but I wasn't sure it would be too warm.....still promoting algae growth.

What should I do with my pool if I'm gone all September

I know this is way early, but I miss my pool and got thinking about it. We just finalized our plans to visit family in Greece and will be gone for pretty much the whole month of september. I really would rather not hassle anyone to come by too often. My sister can come by for the first 12...

First time closing pool (Ontario, Canada)

Thanks everyone. It has been done. :goodjob: After the water level reached the bottom of the skimmer we took the hose off the skimmer and stuck it in the pool to continue a few more inches of draining. This worked very well.

First time closing pool (Ontario, Canada)

We're slowly getting things organized to close our pool. I'm new at this and need hand holding. I read pool school quite a few times ("Closing (winterizing) your above ground pool") but still feel like I need a little help with our specifics. I vacuumed and cleaned my pool thoroughly today...

Does anyone have a link or more detailed directions on how to close/when and winterize a pool. This is our first year and we haven't got a clue what to do.

My thoughts on solar heating and help me make it better....

Yes, we are bypassing the solar at night. And we use the blanket every night. Definately nighttime temps can have something to do with it. Last week monday started out with just under 5 degrees at night and progressively got higher to about 12 degrees the last couple nights. Guess that...

My thoughts on solar heating and help me make it better....

thanks for all the advice and thoughts. Last week was really nice 25 degrees each day and mostly sunny each day. We started out with 68 degrees. Each day we gained about 5 degrees and would lose 4 at night with a net gain of about 1 degrees each day (2 later on in the week). By Wednesday...

Your welcome flyboy! You gotta watch that card because I noticed they expire in December 2009. Only useful if you use more than 100L per season.

My thoughts on solar heating and help me make it better....

The panels were $299 each, plus start up kit $30. The piping which wasn't as cheap as we thought it would be had to go about 50 feet and then up the roof. With our lovely CAD taxes, that what it came to. We decided to spend extra on the Enersol due to the better quality than the Sunheaters...

My thoughts on solar heating and help me make it better....

We have a 21ft AG pool (346 sq. footage). We installed four 4x10 Enersol panels on our south facing roof. Exactly set up like this: http://www.enersol.com/content/view/13/28/ So with 160 square feet of panel we have 46% coverage. Sun exposure from 9-5 on panels. I zealously use my solar...

Good Supply Place In Canada For Chlorine?

I've been getting my 12% chlorine at Discounters pool and spa (I noticed a couple stores in GTA). They have the reusable containers which is great. Of course they list it under shock. $5.79 for 10L and $10.99 for 20L
