    Yellow algae I assume

I need the Winston Wolf of pool water here. I've been fighting yellow algae for weeks, or at least I'm assuming that's what it is, it's a yellow/brownish substance that looks like dirt. I've tried everything to get rid of it and I can knock it back for a while but it comes back within a day...

It does go immediately down to zero when I switch off the pump.

    Mystery loss of suction/flow

That’s unknown, supposedly it was cleaned not too long ago when it was last active but it has sat un-used for quite a while. Sounds like I should focus on the filter that might be restricting the flow.

    Mystery loss of suction/flow

I have a pool that sat empty for over a year and we now filled to try and get it up and running. It has 2 skimmers and a main drain. When we first started it up it had almost no water flow, after a while we started to get minimal water flow, I think the main drain was fairly clogged up and some...

    Skimmer thread size

Hello there, I’m trying to connect a male threaded pvc fitting into the skimmer bottom hole to blow it out and it seems that a 1.5” mpt is slightly too small and won’t thread and a 2” mpt is too big. Is there a chance this is an off size or are all fittings usually 1.5”? Don’t know much about...

Help me get this old pool going

I did check with them and they were OK for us to paint it. Honestly I’m the angry one as they did hardly anything to restore the pool and I’m stuck dealing with it now. We signed on with this house that was vacant for over a year with the promise that they would get the pool going and they did...

So basically were are renting this house out in the E. Texas country. It has an inground concrete pool that is in poor shape. It had some big chunks of plaster missing that the owner paid someone to patch. The pool really needs replastering but that isnt going to happen so I want to do what I...

    New OB Peoria AZ

You have a basement in AZ? Dont see too many of those. Gas heating with electric? Do you mean a heat pump or something? My 400k btu heater wasnt too bad cost wise and I like the water really warm around 88, you wont need it all that much in the summer and my sw gas bill was pretty reasonable...

Hanging a rectangular Intex Ultra Frame Pool directly from the pool deck

I know you want to try and make this work, but everyone here is telling you it won't. Personally I'd surrender, swallow my pride and use the frame that came with the pool which is specifically designed for the water load. Someone already posted here a very nice design of a deck around the...

    Phoenix Area Pool Build

Yeah that fence, ex-Sonoran Mt. Ranch resident nearby you, had the same see through fence and the backyard butted right up to Peoria Regional Reserve. I ended up putting metal chicken wire on the bottom 12" and on top of that plastic fencing on the bottom 24" to keep out the critters (and the...

    Bromine with Intex pool

I'm using Bromine with an Intex pool, mainly because it's what I have on hand to use with my Intex Spa. The pool is only 10' round with 1,000 gallons. The water is a bit cloudly, the Bromine level may have been low, will adding more Bromine clear it up or do I have to use some other chemical...

    Intex purespa setup

There should be no loss from sun in an Intex Spa, the cover needs to be on at all times unless you're in it so you can keep the temperature up. An Intex spa with a 1300w heater won't maintain heat without its cover on.

Getting a new inflatable spa. Bromine?

I tried some spray cleaner with bleach which didnt help at all, will try a magic eraser which uses a formaldehyde based chemical and see if that helps at all.

Getting a new inflatable spa. Bromine?

Interesting enough if you google bromine and yellowing it seems that bromine in plastics is what causes them to turn yellow over time. Now I'm curious as to if anyone else has used bromine in their vinyl spa without yellowing. Don't think it hurts the liner but the yellow ring doesn't look...

Getting a new inflatable spa. Bromine?

Yeah thats my thread, i talked to the people at the spa store they said it was from the chemicals that are harsh on vinyl and that it wouldn't matter if i used chlorine or bromine. Not sure I believe them though.

Anyone use an inflatable spa in winter? (freezing temps)

Here's how I did mine: 1) Cut-out the foam board insulation: 2) Put ground pad on top: 3) Setup on spa on the ground pad: 4) Built an enclosure around the spa:
