Jandy Truclear Pro display not working

I have a Jandy Truclear Pro SWG that was installed 7 years ago. Recently the when the pump comes on and the unit starts the display screen will flash green for a half second and then go dark. I removed the cover, checked the ribbons to the keypad which seem to be securely engaged into the PCB. I...

    Dirt in pool

I'm sure it will work for you as well Cinic. When I looked at the steps of my pool the first few days after the storm the water looked brown and I was pretty confident it was only dirt and no algae. The rest of the pool looked more greenish. I think because of the blue liner (thinking of the...

    Dirt in pool

I did use the recommended method to determine that my system needs 2 cups of DE to raise the pressure by 1 psi. In the early stages of filtering the dirty water adding 2 cups would require me to backwash in about 2-2.5 hours. I adjusted down to 3/4 or 1 cup initially so I could go to work and...

    Dirt in pool

Yes, I did. I added 1-2 cups each time. Less early on in the process, especially if I was going to be gone for awhile as the psi rose quickly. As the water got cleaner it took longer for the psi to rise, so I could add a little more.

    Dirt in pool

Just wanted to provide an update to this post in case it's helpful to anyone else in the future. To recap, we had a flash flood two weeks ago that washed a river of dirt/mud into the pool. Prior to the rain the test results: FC - 5.0 CC - 0.0 CYA - 70 I read several posts on this forum, the...

    Dirt in pool

My filter is a sand filter, so I was adding DE just to increase filtering effectiveness. I really don't think it's a algea bloom as it was crystal clear Sat afternoon before the flash flood. CYA levels prior to storm were at 60 or 70 (still have a hard time with this one sometimes and kept...

    Dirt in pool

We had a flash flood here on Sat evening and a river of dirt/mud ran into my pool and turned my crystal clear water into this! I've read several posts here and decided to try and let it settle and vac to waste to try and clear it. Since Sat I've cleaned out the debris with a leaf rake, let it...

    Help, floating liner

I've raised the water level and the liner is looking like it did last year! Thanks for the advice. Does this mean that I drained too much for closing, should I drain less when closing at the end of this season? I drained about 8 inches, not far below the bottom of the skimmers. I was...

    Help, floating liner

The pool is about 7-8 inches below full. There is not a well point near the pool that I know of, although maybe I should look harder. What do I check for? Should I try and take the liner out of the track and pump water from behind it? Yes, we have had quite a bit of rain lately, although I...

    Help, floating liner

All, This my second season with a pool. When I opened it this weekend I found a significant portion of the liner floating, mainly along the walls approximately 2-3 feet below the water line. I drained about 6-8 inches of water when I closed last November. I believe the liner is approximately...

Persistant Algae, Confused Pool Store Advice

Welcome to TFP Jarwulf. As a fellow newbie I think you'll find the advice you'll receive from the experienced pool owners here to be very helpful. You can solve your algae problem and avoid these problems in the future. I would recommend reading in the "Pool School" section, specifically the...

very cloudy water after a day of unintentional experimenting

I'm a newbie, but I would think with CYA of over 100 your SWG may not be able to keep FC high enough to avoid algae growth. Looking at the CYA-FC chart you would need FC held at 12 ppm for CYA of 100. If you could get it down to 80 that would reduce your target FC to 6 and greatly reduce the...

    Leak at pump junction

I got it fixed yesterday. Ended up putting in a union and using teflon with some silicon grease (got a little sloppy with the primer though). Thanks for all of your help and input!

Glad it's going well. Looks like I'll be using some silicon in addition to Teflon tape for my repair.

Yeah, every time I try a project I try and buy everything I need in one trip but always end up driving back and forth to Lowes or Home Depot!

    Battling cloudy water all summer

Have you checked behind any ladders or the back of the skimmer to see if there's an area that's not getting cleaned where the algae are living? I know some others on the forum have found that when they removed a ladder and drained the water that bunch of algae came out.

    Leak at pump junction

Thanks for the help JohnT. I'll be careful and try not to think that "tighter must be better"! I'm pretty sure that the adapter is just 1.5" but my local Lowe's has the 1.5 to 2" adapter if I'm wrong.

Big problem with my sand filter

Glad the reciprocating saw idea worked well for, definitely makes all those pvc cuts faster! I would probably go with the SS bolts as recommended by zea3, I think they'll last longer.

Big problem with my sand filter

What about trying a reciprocating saw with a hacksaw blade? Might be easier to cut the bolt.
