    Vacuuming to waste

What a feindishly simple suggestion, which I will happily try. I forgot to mention that I'm doing this solo. I guess I can tether the pole to the ladder while I turn off the pump. It's worth a try before I give up and call in a professional. Thanks.

    Vacuuming to waste

I screwed up. There's white powder all over the bottom of the pool. Several clarifier treatments and I can see the bottom. As preparation for vacuuming to waste, I have been adding water. I still might not get to the entire bottom before I have to stop. What I want to know is if it makes sense...

    New liner in IG pool

Upon opening, I discovered that my liner, installed new last year, had come apart from the pool wall in 3 places. It's under warranty. I dropped the water level and somebody will be here tomorrow. But this never happened in 18 years and one other replacement. I'm already freaked out about next...

    Getting a new liner...

...within the next 3-4 weeks (I hope). Water temp is ready for me to swim. Water is clear, pool is clean, chemistry is...iffy, as in low/no levels of anything because I just opened. I don't want to do any more than I must to water I'm soon dumping. 1. Is there any reason to care about anything...

    Monsoon questions

Aha! Of course the Waste and Rinse are open connections. I've never left them unattended before. I didn't think about gravity. On the other hand, in situations like this when we lose power, it's good to know that I can still drop the water level. Thanks.

    Monsoon questions

You are too kind. Thank you. The equipment was not in danger of flooding. I was concerned about the pump maybe having to work too hard.

    Monsoon questions

12 inches of rain in the last 5 days has led to 2 questions. 1. When the water rises to the top of the pool is there any damage to a running pump? I turned it off overnight, when I knew the rain would bring the water level back to the top. 2. Will somebody explain this? One night I got the...

Screwed-up backwash, DE all over the place

Richard320 and jblizzle, A BIG thanks to you both for your quick, clear responses. :queen: I'm going to read that sticky for better understanding. But I'm calling in the pool guy to clean out the filter. In the meantime...filter psi has steadied at 6, where it's supposed to be, and I hope...

Screwed-up backwash, DE all over the place

I'm getting too old for this. I back washed yesterday. Instead of returning the valve to "filter" after "rinse", I accidentally returned it to "backwash". Didn't notice until I saw the water level get low (not too low to run the pump). So I reset the valve to "filter", and (thinking that most...
