    Pump engine whining

Hey Timerguy, Yep, it was a bit of a bonehead move not to realize with so little rain the water needed replacing. We're just so darn proud to be maintaining a crystal clear cement pond we got a little cocky! :D I have a dear friend in Chapin--lovely town!

    Pump engine whining

I noticed that the skimmer baskets remained empty despite a truckload of leaves falling. At closer look my water level was a couple of inches under the skimmers. Another lesson for this newbie. So Duraleigh nailed it. Threw the hose on for about four hours and we were back in business.

Thank you, Kiss! We did the light--yuck green stuff behind the fixture itself and in the hole it sits in. Also went deep into the skimmers and found a fairly thick layer of green junk. AND managed to not get electrocuted, which was sweet! Dumped some bleach, tested just now and FC is 21...

I see, thank you. We don't have a ladder but I need to check the skimmer doors and deal with the light. That part I had read but could not conceive of doing as it means getting in the pool and then how do you pop it out??? Is there danger of electrocution (ie must I kill juice to the pool first...

Update: This am the FC was 18, so we passed OCLT as we lost just .5 Pool is blue and oh so clear! CC went UP from last night's 1.0 to 1.5 this am So the third leg of the TF pool is not quite steady. Do we need to maintain shock? What will get us to the desired .5? But we can now swim in it from...

You had me at no sand change, LOL. Okay we are at 18.5 two hours after dumping .5 gallon. I was really excited until we did the CC, which landed us @1.0 :| So I guess we won't be there completely until CC is .5 but maybe that will happen? Could our CC improve when we do our OCLT tomorrow...

Thanks for all the patient guidance. Big thanks for pointing out the last desperate toss in of granular shock took awhile to raise my CYA. We have been holding it at 16 FC and the last two days show BIG improvement in clarity and color. I took some pics but between the fading light and shadows...

Newbie to pool ownership and hoping to fly DIY soon

Hey folks! So I haven't posted because my SLAM got a bit messed up with having to be out of state. DH skipped testing, brushing and dumping for several days, so the "true" SLAM began on July 20. I retested CYA again that day and came up again with 30, which made my FC goal 12. For 9 out of 13...

Happy Sunday afternoon everybody! I trust you are having fun this lovely summer day in your pools and I hope to get there soon! :swim: Something weird is going on. I read how to SLAM and essentially started that yesterday. I had FC of 9 yesterday morning. Added two jugs of bleach midday. Tested...

Wow YippeeSkippy, that did the trick! Pool math now working. So that's the good news. The bad news is given my numbers it's not recommending I do anything. I think I just need to read a bunch of threads here on the topic of green and cloudy & find my path. Thank you for the great clarification...

The way I got to 7.35: the color landed between 7.5 & 7.2; the directions said to average the two. Thanks though because I need all the help I can get!!!!

Newbie to pool ownership and hoping to fly DIY soon

Hi everybody, thanks for all the great intel :DSo after I tested the other night we had a powerful, long rainstorm plus my DH mistakenly set the valves wrong and we woke up to a brown murky mess. I hadn't gotten my bleach yet so I caved in and poured in what I did have, granular shock. This...

Hi there! A bit of history: We bought a house one year ago with our first ever cement pond. Since we knew nothing about pool ownership or maintenance we got a service and not sure if it was them or an unnaturally rainy summer but we had green and brown pool action with great regularity. In the...
