    Heater Recommendation for Natural Gas

After just doing a swap out of a 400kBTU Sta-rite to a 400kBTU Raypak heater, I can see why so many like the Raypak better. Way less noise, it's very hard to hear it running. Of coarse for you will not need one that big for 9000 gallons unless you was looking for the water to get heated quicker...

    Booster pump start capacitor

Came home yesterday and the pool was not running. After looking into it found the circuit breaker to both pumps was tripped. After more investigation found the start capacitor looked like it blew it's self a part. Have been eyeing going with a robot but refuse to pay the summer tax on a unit...

Booster Pump No Longer Needed - What to do with it?

I was thinking the same. About to pull the trigger on a cleaning robot but what to do with the old pressure cleaner and supporting H/W. First, I'm keeping everything as robot seem to fail from time to time. This way I have back-up if the robot is in the shop. Second, here in southeast LA with...

    Pump Leaking & Air Bubbles

I would add after reading the article to check the O-rings on suction side of pump also. I changed out a pump last year and had many bubbles in the basket after the change. The new pump didn't line up with the old pipe connections so I had to change the piping around. Well not being a plumber I...

Pentair MasterTemp 400- recycling and no error code

Thanks! Funny you said mouse. One of my neighbors who has a MasterTemp 250 back on New Years said he had a mouse/rat family living in his. Should have been a cue for me to check mine also.

Pentair MasterTemp 400- recycling and no error code

Yes, it comes on and starts heating the water until it gets near the preset temperature then the display starts jumping up and down within a 5 degree range of what it thinks the water temperature is(it's wrong on that account also) and starts clicking turning on and off. I was thinking it is...

Pentair MasterTemp 400- recycling and no error code

I don't have the banging noises but mine is doing the same thing. First it's miss reading the temperature. The read out will say the water is 102F but a thermometer in the spa reads 87F. Then when it gets near the set temperature it starts to go rapidly up/down on the display and switching...

Auto fill. what options are there?

My PB puts the float type in every pool he builds and I found this web site too late to change the auto-fill. He ran the water feed line to a hose connection by the pool and I put a Y/splitter on it. I can turn on the auto-fill with a turn of the valve on the Y/splitter or turn it off when water...

    New build on the horizon

I do admit, I would do the beach entry with a built an umbrella holder built in to if I had to do it again. The PB even talked about doing one instead of a tanning ledge but the wife was dead set on a tanning ledge instead. I can see it now, umbrella up with chairs in the water. Oh what could...

    New build on the horizon

To me the 3.5 foot shallow end feel more natural. I guess from growing up with pools that had 3.5 foot shallow ends in my younger days. It's really what your family thinks will work the best. I can tell you that here in the south the sun's ray will heat up the water on your tanning ledge. Now...

Quartzscapes - Do you have it? Do you like it?

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner. That is the regular Caribbean Series Aruba Sky, I don't remember the Reflection Series Aruba Sky being an option when we made our pick for plaster. Sounds neat, hope you put some pictures up of it.

Help! How to change color of lights on Pentair panel

Do you know what model control board you guys have. If you have an Easy Touch or Intellitouch it will do the color or mode change for you. You just have to use the menu and select lights and the mode for the programed color changes. Their is another just called color, select that then pick a...

    Muratic Acid

I guess we are lucky that both Lowes and the HD carry the full 31% in their pool sections. The HD's is the same red label Texas Splash has pictured and Lowes has KemTek or something like that. Both have two pack gallons for @13 bucks. I like the HS's because it seems to splash less. I think it's...

Pentair Intellibrite 5g vs. Hayward ColorLogic 4.0

We have three of the spa sized Intellibrite 5g's in the pool/spa and it works well. Our pool is smaller so the PB said we could use the little bit cheaper spa sized LED lights. Like it was said, the red on the Pentair is kind of weak. With our light blue plaster is looks more of a blood red to...

    Does CYA disappear?

Yeah, I ended last year with CYA at 70 when the water went below 60. After that I only check FC and Ph for the rest of winter. So when the water stayed above 60 for a week or so I checked everything and the CYA was around 35 to 30. We had lots of rain this winter and it kept getting cold later...

IC60 Installed & Pool Service Tech under warranty replaced with a IC40 Pentair???

Re: IC60 Installed & Pool Service Tech under warranty replaced with a IC40 Pentair??? I do have to say apples should be replaced with apples. Yes the IC 40 can handle your pool with extra work(also less life of the unit) but you paid for the IC 60 when you bought the pool from your PB.

    Pool area landscape lighting

Man has something changed? Two years ago I read on here that lights must be at least 10 ft. from the water. I have all mine at least 10 ft. from the water and they are all LED fixtures. They would look better closer to the pool for sure. Oh never mind, i'm not digging up that cable again...

2 years since filter cleaning and SWCG inspection. How does it look?

Yes the pollen has been very bad this year, it seems to take a very long time before it's removed from the pool by the filters. I still clean filters two times a year. Right now i'm on a November then May filter cleaning routine. Cleaned the SWCG for the first time in 1 1/2 years and it looked...

Add Spa with Pool Renovation?? Estimates?? Houston Tx Recommendations?

Looks like you have good pool that will be awesome after the updates. With what your doing, it will almost be brand new but much cheaper than new. So are you going to do a stand alone spa instead? Love your big palms at the back of the pool.

    Auto-fill or no?

[emoji53] Sorry i forgot to take that picture for you. The torrential rains has thrown everything off. Pretty simple to operate with the valve at the manifold. Turn on for a day or two then off until needed again by turning one value. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

    Auto-fill or no?

I need to take a picture of mine for you. Mine is hooked up to a water manifold on a hose hook up at the wall. This way I can turn it on for a day or two then turn it off easily. It's a nice setup without leaving it on all the time. I will try to get a picture up soon for you.

HDX/PoolMaster Kits to Test PH - Not a good idea

For one, the HD where I live has this stuff outside. Not in the sun, but it is outside with the heat and humidity of summertime. So no way would I trust them to give you a correct reading. HD is a good place to get MA or 3 inch tabs(you can get just one at a time)but for pool testing materials...

    Houston Area Pool Build

Nice looking plan there. Yes, go with the LED lights if you will be in the pool at night. Yes, make sure they are pointing at the house. I know they cost more but are worth it if you plan on using them. Might want to see if you can replace the Polaris 280 and the booster pump for a good robot...

    Schedule for pool

First, you have a nice, beautiful pool there jaykull! With this mild winter so far, my FC has not dropped as fast as I thought it would. I'm trying to get a metal remover into my water, so the FC needs to be low for it to work right. Even down south we get so much less sun in winter that FC...
