Ok...here we go...FC 3, CC 3, TA 100, ph 7.2, CH 250, CYA 0!! Pool is sparkly clear, so am going to continue with SLAM and the "overnight" test tonight....should I add CYA stabilizer now or wait?? Am still really confused why zero and "hope" the test chemical I just got from TFTestkit is good...

Can u clarify your alternative CYA test? Cannot quite follow... Also to clarify earlier CYA readings...I put 40 in but really had no idea as I ran out of the CYA reagant from TFTestkits...still confused how the CYA can go to 0 in one winter...any ideas?

Thx...my thinking was that unless I heard strongly otherwise, would leave TA and ph alone for now... Re: CYA...It was cloudy out.....my thinking is to ignore CYA for now and focus on SLAM process...am curious though, does CYA at zero make sense???

Confused in NJ!?! Ok...yesterday TA at 6 and ph at 7.2...all while shocking, brushing, etc. So put in baking soda to raise TA a little...quick check of chlorine last night...zero...shocked again before going to sleep, Plus, FINALLY received R--oo13 reagant from Test Kit folks so I could check...

Prior advice was to get ph to 7.2 which I did...plus describe my current test readings which I did earlier today....right now, water is "milky" but appears debris and green algae is gone...to clarify, I "shocked" the pool this AM....what should I focus on next? Thx! :)

I love this site and all of the resources here...as stated repeatedly, you MUST get the right test kit, avoid the pool store "experts", read Pool School, use Pool Math, and save your self ultimately TONS of money and headache by literally following the advice here... Hopefully, this will make...

Am a little confused...in pool school, it says if pool is exposed to lots of direct sunlight, CYA should be 60-80, whereas everywhere else its at 30-50...can someone help clarify? Also, opening pool today...hooray!! Have mesh cover...after vacuuming out stuff on bottom...do I focus on ph, TA...

OK... left overnight...FC holding at 12 and CC at 0.5...so chemistry looking good! So just to confirm...keep an eye on things, maintain shock level at 12, brush regularly, backwash as needed, and wait for pump to do its work and get rid of green/grey? Thx!!

Last reading fc 9.5 and cc 0.5...on way! Looks like I was lucky and got it right away... Because my ph was high and cya low, I used dichlor shock (read that it raises cya and lowers ph in pool school so said why not use it!) for first 2 shocks vs. bleach...cya is now 20-25 and ph (with ph down...

Just opened...using TFP Test kit...it appears CYA may be zero (black spot in tube never grays out even when tube is full!). Can that happen in one winter? If so, assume this is first thing to tackle or should I start putting bleach in pool immediately (green), OR deal with high ph first...

Thx Gary....I am convinced this is the way to go....Pentair confirmed all I need is the Easytouch without the transformer kit and it also work with existing wired spaside remote, but will NOT work with my existing indoor controller. So if I get that controller then good to go...much cheaper than...

PLEASE HELP!!! I am original thread starter...am pursuing swapping out the Compool 3400...first option is the previously recommended Pentair Easy Touch upgrade...do I need the conversion kit PLUS the transformer? Also, will my existing spa side remote and indoor remote (both Compool hard wired)...
