24' AG hole in liner with winter cover on

I am stuck with hard choices. As you said, I don't want the walls to collapse. I was thinking to just undo the cover and toss it in the pool, since it has ice on it currently. Maybe fill it up to halfway or so just to protect the walls. Do a new liner in the spring because I'm not sure where...

24' AG hole in liner with winter cover on

Guys, My pool pretty much leaked all its water out and the pool cover (new cover) is on. Haven't pumped any water off so I'm sure it's a leak. It has some water on the cover and I noticed it's starting to tug on the walls. Should I just take the cover off at this point? Any advice would be...

DE Filter Dirty Water returning to pool

I'm having the same issue with my EC50. When I bump 3 times and power on, about the first 5 seconds, I get filth going back into the pool then it clears. Have tried new DE, although not certain on the correct amount being thrown in, really should get a scoop. Anyhow, haven't opened it up yet...

Why has my pH been high this year?

You can add MA to lower the alkalinity, but this will also bring your PH down. You can then aerate to bring up the PH, which shouldn't have much effect on TA. Rain should cause PH to rise a bit because it creates aeration.

CYA very high; run other tests anyway if have to replace water? Newbie

If your CYA is really that high, your shock level will be roughly 47-50ppm, possibly higher depending on which algae you have. That is going to take a lot of chlorine for the SLAM process. When CYA is that high, the possibility of algae bloom is increased because high CYA neutralizes the...

    High TA but low pH?

7.2 is probably the best level to keep your PH. To get your TA down, you'll have to add muriatic acid, this will also bring down your PH. PH can then be raised by either aeration or by using Borax. Aeration takes a bit longer, but is best because it doesn't affect TA. If you use Borax, it...

    Green, but is it algae?

I suspect it's an algae problem because of the FC loss. You need to shock your pool and hold it at shock level until you pass the OCLT.

    Green, but is it algae?

Could be chemical imbalance or bad circulation/filtration. Post your results so we can have a better idea.

    Pool Filter Sizing help

Lol, ok let me clarify. Before the rain, the pool was clear and levels were good with one exception, ph was a tad high. After the rain, pool turned cloudy green and ph went up even further. I immediately shocked and have been maintaining shock level for 4 days now, but haven't noticed any...

Video showing how clear your pool can be!

That pool looks awesome, WOW.. Mine is not there yet, but I'm a rookie, so still at it. I believe my 19"/100lbs sand filter might be a tad small for my pool. When and how long do you guys run your filter? I get full sun, no trees around.

Blonde hair and Intex SWG with Copper

Thanks for clearing that up guys. I had disconnected the wire since I installed it, so didn't have to worry about staining/green hair, was just wondering. I'm sure boost will still work, just won't be dumping copper ions into the water.

Replacing skimmer gasket with butterfly gasket

Yes its showing signs of rust in between the skimmer and faceplate, so I will get a butterfly gasket asap. So basically, if I drop the water level and remove the entire skimmer/faceplate, the liner shouldn't move? If that's the case, then I'm worried about nothing. Thanks guys.

Upgrading filter from Sand to D.E.

Good point guys. I did notice when pouring in the D.E. into the skimmer that fine air bubbles were coming through the return. At first I thought it was D.E, but after a closer look, it was just really fine air bubbles. It settled after a bit and was filtering as normal. I will get a new set...

Blonde hair and Intex SWG with Copper

Hi, Reading up on the Intex CS8110 with Copper, it seems as though it only turns blonde hair green. If no one in my family has blonde hair, should I still worry about the copper ions in the water? Thanks

Upgrading filter from Sand to D.E.

I went home for lunch and checked the pressure on my sand filter but it hasn't moved since adding the D.E this morning at 8am. I followed the instructions for adding D.E to a sand filter. I'm wondering if the filter is actually working properly.

Upgrading filter from Sand to D.E.

Hey guys, Thanks for the advice. I've added some D.E. to my filter, I'll see what results it produces when I get home. Reading about my pump, it seems as though it can be switched to side discharge. I'll do some investigations. Thanks

Upgrading filter from Sand to D.E.

Hi guys, I'm thinking about replacing my sand filter for a D.E. type and was wondering if I have to replace the pump as well. Currently I have a Waterway 1HP/19" Sand Filter combo, but it's very slow at cleaning even after a sand change/backwash. My neighbor has a Hayward D.E. filter and...

Replacing skimmer gasket with butterfly gasket

It's a Proline Skimmer I believe and it's a standard, not widemouth. It's roughly 3 years old. I've tightened it really tight with a #3 Philips, so that's not the problem. Should I worry about the opening rusting since I've switch to SWG? The guy at the store said the butterfly gasket will...

Replacing skimmer gasket with butterfly gasket

Guys, I need some advice. I have a standar skimmer and gaskets, 1 on the outside and one on the inside. The pool is full, but have a drip leak under the gasket on the outside of the pool. I went to the pool store and they sold me a butterfly gasket, said it was better and also protects the...
