One quick note to the above...when I came home today,ph was at 7.8. 4 cups of muriatic acid dropped to its current 7.5

So....Rebalanced early this am. 9x4.75 lb boxes of borax....slowly....two boxes at a time, and allot of stirring afterwards followed by 45 min...then another two boxes...and so on. All seemed ok but ph was still too low....so one box of soda ash and voila, balanced. Pump was on all day since 6...

Here are pool originally, then last year when splotches appeared.... las year PB dhrained and acid washed... this year will do the no drain method because the spots are back.... will post after photos. This is a great site, glad I found!!

I have had ..problem off and on for two years... entire life of pool. this thread is very very helpful. Last year I insisted that the PB drain and acid wash the pool. this did work... now a year later problem back... im sure it has something to do with adding too much calcium to the plaster mix...
