    Borate Test Strips in Ontario

Hi TFP: Does anyone in Ontario know where I could purchase Borate Test Strips? I've tried TFTKits but it doesn't appear they will ship to Canada. Also checked out a link to Apollo Piscines and that page no longer exists (so assuming they are no more). Any help appreciated (Amazon is Sold...

    Pump Run Time

Many thanks to the folks here at TFP. I have successfully rewired my Hayward P4 to allow me to manage my Filter time, Heater and lights (thanks Jblizzle). Yesterday my readings at 6 pm were: The pool was off for most of the day while I rewired and then I programmed the filter to run that...

    My Poor Boy Aerator

Maybe more like this? 1 1/2" to a 1" reducer, 1" T pipe and back to a 1 1/2" Will the reduction be enough?

    My Poor Boy Aerator

Another version I might try: Basically a T-Pipe with a 3/4 in feed that is held in place by a plug and then be able to rotate the 3/4 feed pipe with the end in the stream cut at 45.

    My Poor Boy Aerator

Yup - tried using an ABS Y Pipe shooting straight into pool with and extension that pointed back to jet. I then used an extended 8" piece with a plug and a 3/4" braided hose to feed air down to the flow. I get some suction but it is minimal and it is really picky about where that braided hose...

    My Poor Boy Aerator

Just snapped a bunch of PVC I had hanging around in the garage. Guess I'll need to pick up a 45 (for now using a 45 abs - which is that black piece) Inspired by Rangeball's aerator (which is much slicker I must say) Has anyone tried to create a venturi version?

    Latest Readings

Hi Folks; I have been slowly adding borates to my SWG and will continue this weekend. Right now at 10 ppm. My latest readings have been pretty consistent. pH is very stable. Although today I noticed my CC level (0.5 ppm) I did a search here and figured this is not a biggy right now. Can I...

    Bit Hazy

Hi Guys: Pump runs 24/7 @ 10% SWG. I get pretty stable FC depending on weather. Swim level has not changed - I'm pretty much the only one who splashes around in the water (well me an my dog). Pool looks better today - swept and vacuumed. pH is higher today 7.8 / 8.0 find it hard to read the...

    CANADIANS: Muriatic Acid Best Price

For my CAN brothers: My local PS wanted $17.99 for 4L of Muriatic Acid. I found the same at Home Hardware http://www.homehardware.ca/en/rec/index.htm/Paint-D%C3%A9cor/Surface-Preparation/Cleaners/4L-Muriatic-Acid/_/N-2pqfZ67l/Ne-67n/Ntk-All_EN/R-I1620847?Ntt=muriatic+acid Which is the same 20...

    Bit Hazy

Thanks man - but I rarely run my heater - guess I'm old school. I actually prefer my temp to be around 75F. Just doesn't work for me at 80 - 85 F. I use to swim competitively so warm pools just don't do it for me. h

Didnt test CC but figured with my pH and TA in check - should be ok. I can test CC in a bit. Just but aerator on the pool. h

Hi Guys: Having lots of fun working with my new chemistry hobby. We've had ALOT of rain recently and I have been working to control my PH, TA and CYA. I think I've got most numbers in range. FC 6 pH 7.6 TA 70 CH 260 CYA 80 Salt 3200 Have my jets turned up to see if I can raise the pH to 7.8...

    1st Test Results w Taylor k2006

Learned something from Richard320: 1). Touch the tip ore the reagent bottle with a damp paper towel. What a difference in the readings. 2). When dripping - you have to hold the bottle straight up and down (uniform drip). I was cheating and holding the drip bottles on a bit of an angle (eyes...

CC zero - is that a good thing?

Thanks Jesse That's exactly what I'm working on. My original TA was pretty high about 140 when I ran tests with the k2006. My pool store readings where much lower on their reports. My plan is to let my pH hit 7.8 and then knock it back down to 7.0 Let my TA drop. I don't thing I'll aerate...

CC zero - is that a good thing?

FC 6.0 pH 7.6 TA 120 CH 250 CYA 70 CC 0 CSI -0.13 If CC is zero is that an issue? Pool math says I'm balanced. Although given how fast the beers are disappearing I question that. H
