My husband turned off the pump for 5 days! HELP!

It was perfectly clear by 4pm. That seems awfully fast, but there's not even the slightest tinge of green left.

My husband turned off the pump for 5 days! HELP!

It's looking good! We ran the robot, added more bleach, scrubbed. It only has a slight green tinge in the deep end now. Y'all are the best! Need to do the OCLT in the morning, but at the rate it's clearing, I'm guessing we'll be good to go.

My husband turned off the pump for 5 days! HELP!

My husband accidentally turned off our pool pump :brickwall: and consequently our SWG before we left town for 5 days. We came back to a pool with 0 chlorine and a slight green tint. Water is clear. We started the the pump and SWG and added bleach. FC 3.5 TC 0 pH 7.5 TA 60 CYA 51 CH 235...

    Balancing water order

OK, things are getting better. FC: 12 (coming down slowly - is it okay to swim at this level?) CC: 0 TC: 12 pH: 7.6 TA: 50 CH: 100 CYA: ? Borates: low I'm still waiting for my new chemicals to arrive to test my CYA, which I know is low since we've added water through the winter. Same for...

    Balancing water order

Thanks for the welcome! Well, we were a bit heavy handed with the borax. Our pH is now up to 8, but our TA is also up to 40. My husband is aerating, but I think that will lower TA not pH (he doesn't like to listen to me <sigh>). Should we add some muriatic acid?

    Balancing water order

Hi, I'm not sure of the order in which to fix my problems, although I now know enough to know what I need to do. My results are: Temp:76 FC: 12.5 CC: 0 TC: 12.5 pH: 7.0 TA: 30 CH: 100 CYA: Test is in the mail ;) (but I know I need to raise it, just don't know by how much) Borates: 10...

    Testing questions

When is the best time of day to test? Today I did it at 12:55 pm, just before our pump & SWG came on because I want to check our FC level when I thought it would be at its lowest and after the sun had been shining on the pool all morning. FC 5.0 CC 0 pH 7.6 TA ~ 75 (I have trouble telling if it...

    Child Safety Fence

We thought about mesh but ended up going with an aluminum pool fence. It's not removable but we liked the look better. We also wanted to have the pool separate from the rest of the backyard (sandbox, play structure, run around room, garden...) and since we have a fenced yard and our pool is on...

    Testing questions

Re: Another newbie... OK, so I had a mini freak-out moment! After reading through lots of posts, I decided to measure my FC after the pump/SWG had been off (it runs during the night) and just before it came back on again for the afternoon, figuring that the FC would be at its lowest point...

    Raising CYA Questions

My pool store had a 5 lb. jug of 100% granular CYA for under $13. Maybe you could check around price-wise? We only needed about 3 lbs. and my husband dissolved it (more or less) in a 5 gallon bucket and poured it into to the pool. Our CYA reading was up that afternoon. I do plan to check again...

Re: Another newbie... We don't actually run the deck jets and waterfall that often, maybe a few hours a week. We ran them during the party on Sunday, but were gone all this week so the only thing running was our pump which is on a timer. Our TA is going down slowly since we're adding muriatic...

    Testing questions

Re: Another newbie... OK, hubby is so happy he's right! We'll wait on the borax. Our pH today is up to almost 8, everything else stable. We need to add a fair amount of MA to lower to 7.2 (61 oz), and we need to add a little water to the pool as well. How will that affect our numbers? Should...

    Testing questions

Hi, we just had a fiberglass pool installed. I found this board and started reading it because our water was fluctuating wildly according to test strips and pool stores (this was in March and April--I learn!) I now have a Taylor K2005 test kit, a FAS/DPD test kit, and LaMotte borate test strips...
