Going to Pool School and then clicking Active Topics, Your Posts, etc. leaves "pool-school" in the URL and sends you to a "Page Not Found". New tweaks are great!

    Dissolved pigment?

I'm dealing with a brown pool. FC has been holding for almost 2 weeks, I've treated for the trace amount of iron that's in the water (Metal Magic with pH at 7.8). The filter is in good shape. Here's what I'm wondering: The pool was built last year and PB closed it. Unfortunately, they...

    Keeping the Frogs at bay

I've got a customer with a frog problem. The pool is next to the bedroom door, and they provide quite a chorus. A quick search turned up this stuff which is apparently non-toxic and just creates a "barrier" that they don't like the smell of. Anybody ever used it or come up with something better?

    Unsealed Spillover

Here's an interesting thing I came across yesterday: spillover.JPG[/attachment:22twceid] spillover2.JPG[/attachment:22twceid] I've never seen someone spill over unsealed concrete before. The results seem to be just what you'd expect. The lighter...

    Recycling DE

So I was getting my tires changed yesterday and while I was waiting I was seated next to a very nice retired chemist. We spoke for a while and we got on the subject of DE. He mentioned that when he worked for a drug manuf., they would use DE to filter their products. But then came the cool...

    Indoor Condensation/Efflorescence

I've got a customer with a ~30k gallon indoor pool. A few details: The pool runs 24/7. It has an Aquapure that even at 1% production puts FC around 10ppm within two weeks. It has a Delzone CD ozonator running 24/7. pH consistently creeps up (even with SWG off) and requires about 1 gallon of...

    To our Aussie friends

TFP seems to have gotten a lot of attention from Australia this winter. It's been a lot of fun to see in season projects going on in January and February! Seeing all the headlines today, my thoughts are with you all (and your backyards). Just wanted to say I hope you and your families are...

    Teflon Tape and You

I've seen a few mentions here and there of how to use TT, but no one thread dedicated to it. Having seen two excellent examples of how NOT to use it yesterday I feel inspired. teflon.JPG[/attachment:31a4usot] Behold: teflon tape. AKA thread seal tape, plumber's tape...

    Spa Cover Lifters

A good cover lifter can make the difference between enjoying and ignoring a hot tub. Here are a few reviews of the ones I see most often. Anyone with different lifters, especially home made projects, please add! The EZ Lifter: This seems to be the most distributed lifter out there. It has a...

Jets not working after fresh fill?

I make a lot of money every year around this time from people who are unable to diagnose and fix air locks, so hopefully this will reach a few in need! Apologies if this is already written up somewhere or misplaced. Whether you're draining and refilling in the middle of the season or filling...

    Wonderful forum!

Greetings all! I'm a Pool and Spa service tech in North Carolina and proud owner of a crusty old Hot Springs Classic that is getting restored for this winter. The forum is a great tool for me, so my appreciation goes out to all of you, owners and professionals both. Looking forward to...
