Pea gravel decking already cracking on 4 month old pool!!! Is this normal?!?!

I need to take a picture but in the meantime, I have a question....is pea gravel decking supposed to already be cracking? We have 4 separate places where there are at least 12-18 inch hairline cracks in the pea gravel. Can this possibly be normal on a not even 4 month old pool?! I haven't...

Here's ours, being filled: I'm really happy with the tile choice I made. It was an upgrade, but not a huge amount more than our allowance anyway. Here's a pic once it was all filled:

Love your pool & outdoor space! I most especially love the pics of your cute dog swimming! - - - Updated - - - Dave, who was your PB? Also, did you price out travertine? Our PB quoted me an extra 4k for natural stone decking...which we just can't justify spending right now. So we're sticking...

I'm in the Clear Lake area. And luckily, the gas company moved it on their dime...I guess since it was a main, not just a line to my specific house. Good luck with your build! Hope it's painless & smooth!

I guess the proper term is exposed aggregate pea gravel. There's nothing messy about it, as it's all compacted in there and not loose on top.

Well ours was a full 2 feet outside the easement and evidently they'd known about it since 2005. Perhaps the previous owners declined having it corrected if they didn't want their yard torn up. At any rate, through a lot of ranting & constant harping on my account (squeaky-wheel and all), they...

Well, we debated back & forth and are ultimately going to go with pea gravel for decking. We'll still have pavers under the patio awning (~8 feet to columns). We didn't want to do brick pavers for the decking because our pool builder warned they would get super hot....and the pool area takes a...

    Pool Life expectency poll?

I would expect at LEAST 15 years out of mine! At least that's what the PB promises since we got a pebble finish on the inside of the pool.

So, after an excruciating 1 month delay because of a gas line (main) out of easement, we are finally officially underway with our build! The dig started (and will I think be completed) today! Here was the original drawing: We have made the sun bench smaller, based in feedback I read here...

New Pool Build -- Pearland, TX

It looks so great! I'm sure you are eager to get it filled up & ready to go! So let me ask you this...did you deal directly w/Brad throughout the actual building process or someone else? Also, can you tell me a little more about what washed aggregate is that you are using for your decking? I'm...

    Haven't even started digging...delays already!!!

My PB came out to draw out the pool on the ground only to find that the gas line appears to be 2 FEET into our property, no where near inside the easement! Arg! We even had the gas company come back out & re-measure/label it, and it's grossly into our property! So now they are sending out a...

Approx. how much more is flagstone or travertine vs stamped concrete (for decking)

Just trying to get a ball park before calling my PB, but really considering (yet another) upgrade as I do not want slippery decking!

    Second guessing our decking choice

We were (are) planning on stamped concrete for our decking and I'm now 2nd guessing it (our dig starts later this week). After reading so many places online, I'm just really afraid it's going to be slippery, and I really don't want that. I'll have a baby and 7 yr old with me out there, plus lots...

We just signed our contract...dig starts next week!

We went with Aquasport Pools. Ron has been in business 38 years so we trust that he will do a good job! He's a bit old-school (doesn't do the computer generated renderings or even email for that matter), but the people I know who have had pools built by him have been extremely happy!
