Winter closing advice when pad below water level

Thanks. Was gratifying to be in the hot tub the same day the parts arrived. Will be in the pool this weekend as we will hit 87 (finally). Thanks to TFP for the guidance to have such as smooth opening and a clean, safe pool.

Winter closing advice when pad below water level

Spring is here and I thought I would follow up on the process for closing and opening an inground gunite pool with the equipment pad bellow the water line. A few changes to what I proposed back in August (using the same numbering above): Pool - 1. I drained about 2 inches below tile. When I...

    Jandy LED Lights

No, those are old school niche lights. I switched from conventional bulbs to LED using the J&J bulbs. As far as I can tell, their nicheless lights (VU series) are not compatible with 3rd party automation systems.

    Jandy LED Lights

I've only purchased the J&J LED bulbs (actually called Color Splash LXG-W series) and they are quite reasonable. I recall the spa bulb is about $150 and the pool about $250. These just screwed into my existing fixtures (Hayward Astrolite) with new gaskets. They've been running great for the...

Where to place the Muratic Acid injector?

Just had this exact discussion recently. My read of the consensus is that it probably doesn't matter much. I put it after as I have a check valve after the SWCG and if the injector goes berserk, this will protect the SWCG from getting flooded with acid...

Consensus on acid injection - before SWCG or after?

Great replies so far. Thanks @Rattus Suffocatus, @santacruzpool, and @CaptainCannonball for your thoughts. It does sound like it probably makes no difference whether it is before or after the SWCG. I'm still leaning towards after the SWCG since I have a check valve there in case of an...

Consensus on acid injection - before SWCG or after?

Installing an acid injection system (Hayward AQL-CHEM4-ACID but without the Hayward control, just manual dosing using schedule on Aqualink). Will be using 1:4 diluted 31.45% acid (so about 8%). Searching through the forum, I see the opinions over the years have varied. Some frequent posters...

    Instapark Betta Automatic Pool Skimmer

My Betta has been going strong since June 1. Only thing I had to do was add a metal rod they sent me to avoid getting stuck on a shallow top step. I have the latest version and so far have not needed any replacement.

Winter closing advice when pad below water level

Just got off the excellent Zoom on winterizing. Thanks to all the contributors. Wanted to get some help in planning for my particular situation please. I've lived in the house with this pool for 1 year. I had a company close the pool last season but didn't really pay enough attention to do it...

    Jandy LED Lights

This is my second pool with J&J bulbs. I use them every night for 4-5 hours. I ran them in my last pool for 3-4 years without issue. Only had this pool about a year, but so far so good.

    Led 120 or 12v?

I replaced all my incandescent lights with LED by purchasing J&J (Halco) bulbs and installing in my existing fixtures using new gaskets (that is important to avoid leaks). I switched everything to 12V by adding a transformer near my panel. There is a lot of interest on this site in Florida...

Replacement pool robot - what are feelings on cordless?

I wrote a review of the Water Tech Volt 550Li. I've been enjoying it and it seems to clean well. The battery is much larger than the Amazon offerings (though the price is also much higher). https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/water-tech-volt-550-li-cordless-robot.213153/

    Jandy LED Lights

Do the Sunseeker or CMP lights emulate Jandy? When I replaced mine, I used J&J Color Splash XG lights since they will work directly with Aqualink (i.e. they have a similar color mapping and total number of color choices). I had contacted Florida Sunseeker at the time and they said they don't...

Aqua Link Issue: No ability to run Two-Speed Jandy Pump on Low?

My mistake, didn't see the red wire (for some reason). Yes, probably the lights. Wouldn't the pump itself need to be grounded? My ground wire runs into the panel, but my panel includes a subpanel. Anyway, don't want to add confusion. The automatic valves don't use the relays, they are 24V...

Aqua Link Issue: No ability to run Two-Speed Jandy Pump on Low?

Looks like Aux 2 is not being used as a relay, but the line side of it is used to power the Aqualink. This is a waste of the relay and so the low speed can just be connected to Aux2. Also, I see the ground bar only has the ground coming in, but nothing else is grounded. That is probably not...

WaterTech (Pool Blaster) VOLT - Right choice for you?

This is a great write up. I bought this as well (on sale for $230). Agree with all you have said. I have trouble vacuuming leaves, but does well with everything else. Fortunately, I don't get many leaves. I do have to brush the top step since it can't reach there. Otherwise, I like it as a...

Water Tech 550Li Cordless Robot - initial review

Agree, I love the hook. Feel like using it on guests and tell long, boring stories.

Water Tech 550Li Cordless Robot - initial review

Yeah, that part is annoying. You need to buy through a dealer. It's not available online. I contacted Water Tech and they directed me to a nearby dealer who shipped it. Ended up getting it through "Jersey Chemicals" in Paterson, NJ. The person I spoke with was Dave. Given your location...

Water Tech 550Li Cordless Robot - initial review

Hard to say. I think it will likely climb to it but it will need to be deep enough to cover the robot for it to clean there.

Water Tech 550Li Cordless Robot - initial review

Still going strong. I noticed the battery lasted a little longer after several discharge/recharge cycles. Have not had any issues. I do like that I can start it up on a Sunday and pull it out the following Saturday. Takes me about 5 min to rinse it clean. I charge it overnight and stick in...

    Jandy and Raypak Heater Wiring

I don't think it matters since you set the temp to maximum and the Aqualink turns it in and off based on the temperature set in the Aqualink settings and the Aqualink temp sensor. I think I used the spa wire and capped the pool wire, but it probably doesn't matter.

    iAqualink not accepting device number

I assume you tried adding when the system was not in Service mode. You can't connect to a system in Service mode since it is locked out from changes except at the panel.

    Instapark Betta review

For what it's worth, mine got caught up in a volleyball net a couple of days ago that had fallen in the pool. One of the propellers was completely tangled up. Untangled the net and set the Betta on it's away. Seems to be working as usual, maybe the newest motor is more robust than before.

For what it's worth, I got mine, which is the latest model, from Amazon. Currently, they are offering $30 off.

    Instapark Betta review

When my pump was at high speed (>2700, which seems to make my heater work better), the Betta sometimes pauses at the skimmer. It seems to figure its way out on its own. It could be that when the pump slows down as the heater shuts off it makes it easier for it to move away. Before I put the...

    Instapark Betta review

Well, since it's Amazon, you could always return. They are actually too short for my skimmer opening. I had to shim them using an old waterline tile. I think you can get them to fit a pretty wide range of skimmers.

    120V to 12V question

The Hayward is interesting because, unlike the Jandy, it doesn't seem like there is a ground wire coming from the fixture, only the bonding wire in the conduit. I read the manual and it still isn't clear. I looked at the Pentair Intellibright manual and they specifically state to connect all 3...

    120V to 12V question

Been following this thread as I had converted all my 120V lights to 12V LED via transformers (niches and j-boxes are bonded properly). I did connect the ground wire all the way back to the ground bus in the subpanel as this is what is shown for 12V LED fixtures bought new. See, for example...
