    Is this impeller broken?

Here is the update I promised, hopefully someone else who runs into this problem will find this thread through a search and be able to fix their problem as quickly and easily as I did with this forum's help. Everything went as planned. Bought new impeller and "go kit" (replacement seal kit)...

    Is this impeller broken?

Is this what gets removed? do the red lines show where the two terminals I need to bridge are? This has been without power for 5 hours and by the time I get to it tomorrow it will be 16 hours at least. Does that cut down on the shock coming from the capacitor?

Great feedback guys, thanks so much. I will work on this tomorrow and get back on here with the results.

    Is this impeller broken?

Wow, great info, thanks so much. So removing the capacitor is my only way of holding the shaft? If so that is ok but melting screwdrivers scares me a little. Any additional info on that would be real helpful. I will order the impeller and seal kit tonight.

    Is this impeller broken?

I am staying away from the capacitor then as my electrical knowledge stops at the level of being able to connect and disconnect something like this. Oh and change a lightbulb.

    Is this impeller broken?

Here are some pics. This is a setup for my inground spa- it is basically setup as a small pool as it has similar equipment. This is an old setup and it works fine so I don't want to replace anything unecessarily. I replaced the entire pump assembly on the pool and added a heater to both pool...

    Is this impeller broken?

Another question...How do I find the correct model number for the impeller I need to order? Google has not helped much with my search, thanks.

    Is this impeller broken?

Thanks for the quick replies. Can you imagine that the guy at Leslies saw this and did not know it was a broken piece? I guess you can imagine that since it is Leslies. Anyway, if anyone knows how to properly remove the broken piece without damaging the shaft please let me know the trick...

    Is this impeller broken?

Working on an AO Smith US1202 motor and pump. It runs but does not pump. Took it apart and brought to Leslies pools as they do a bench test for free. THey said it is fine but the problem persists. Here are some pics of what I think the problem is. I cannot find a good picture online of what...

St. Paul Pool Uses Moss To Reduce Chlorine Use

The more I read about this the more interesting it sounds. I would love to hear some feedback from users here if anyone knows about this. Maybe I will try it next year.

St. Paul Pool Uses Moss To Reduce Chlorine Use

Here is a link to the company website. I am interested in how you would measure it's effectiveness and how you know when to replace the "pads". They give you a time when they should be replaced but it should be based on run time and usage I would think, not just time in days. I guess I just...

Algae bloom - How!? Everything going so well

I have the 380-not 360- and, yes, I do have a booster pump that goes through a dedicated return line. The kids pull it out before they swim and put it back after. I empty the bag when it is full and thats it. It was recommended to me by three guys in my neighborhood who all have the same...

Algae bloom - How!? Everything going so well

I don't know where you heard Polaris doesn't work well but I will give them a big recommendation. I run mine while my pump runs and the pool is always clean and ready to use. Be sure to brush your pool as well, you may have a dead spot at the bottom (as someone else noted) that gets little...

How much FC loss is a concern

It is my understanding you are talking about losing the 3-4ppm overnight?? If so... You should test at night, after the sun sets- 1 hour after lst added chlorine and turn off anything that adds chlorine (swg, chlorinator etc). Then test again in the am before the sun hits your pool. If it...

    Chlorine question

Without a full set of test results it is hard to know what is going on but you could easily lose that amount of chlorine in 2 days depending on the situation. THings like lots of sun, low CYA levels and algea could eat up that chlorine quick. Click on the Pool School button on the top right of...

    Algae problem

I am not a pro but the Pool School (link on top right of this page ) is the place to go so you can learn about everything related to keeping your pool balanced. This article is in there:http://www.troublefreepool.com/pool-school/defeating_algae Getting your pool to shock level will also get...

Just found the site and am converting to BBB

Keep in mind that with no CYA the FC level will also drop faster as there is nothing there to protect it from the sun. You can buy liquid stabilizer that works faster it is just more expensive than the granulated.

Which way to add DE to skimmer ?

What if you pour it through the skimmer basket? There is no chance for clumps as it has to get through the basket to get to the pipes. Mine mixes with the water that is in the basket and off it goes. I do not want to advocate this as you made a pretty strong statement and you are a very...

    deanrinehart's Bethlehem, PA IG Build

Yep, Coronado- they were great- it was interesting watching them work- great end results. I followed pool school/Bellos recomendations which were very close to each other. LOTS of brushing- if you do not have one yet get the "wall whale" brush- it makes brushing 1000 times easier and more...

I recognized him even with his back turned :). They were great, came to us on a recommendation also. They did our coping, tile and plaster renovation last year although they sub out the plaster. Great to work with, you are going to be very happy, the project looks terrific! Here is a picture...

    I need help! Cloudy Pool

The pool calculator says that I also need borax. If you plugged your ph in as 7.2 it would tell you that you need borax. You said it was 7.2-7.5, unless you know what it was for sure then you don't really know what to plug into the calculator. You need good test results to plug into the...

    I need help! Cloudy Pool

This is taken right from the "pool school" in the top right corner of this page: CYA - Cyanuric Acid CYA can be raised with cyanuric acid. Cyanuric acid is sold under a variety of names, including Stabilizer, Conditioner, Instant Pool Water Conditioner, Stabilizer 100, Stabilizer &...

How long should it take for CH to rise

Thanks Jason. I will give it another test after I add the recalculated amount of CCD (hardness plus). The color I am seeing is just the change from red to blue and I am calling it purple. I will see what happens when I slow it down. I am not big on POP but I am learning. Thanks...

How long should it take for CH to rise

I did not see the option on the pool calculator for C.C.D.- got it now, thanks- just need to buy another bucket...back to Leslies On the test-I did it again and swirled for 15 seconds between drops once I got to 20 drops -the first 20 I swirled while adding them and did not wait in between- is...

    Persistent yellow water

I am new to this but to get you started it looks like your pool chemistry is not "right". With your FC @ 10 and TC @ 15 that means your CC (combined Chlorine ) is @ 5 which is too high- it should be .5 or less. From the pool school: CC - Combined Chlorine Combined chlorine is an intermediate...

How long should it take for CH to rise

I asked for Calcium Chloride and they looked at me like I had two heads. I then looked around the store and saw the Hardness Plus and read it had calcium chloride ( I guess not) and used that. What should my next step be? Do I ignore the fact that I added the Hardness Plus and find calcium...

How long should it take for CH to rise

I tested my CH to 230 and the pool calculator said to add 64 OZ by volume of calcium chloride(Leslie's Hardness Plus). I added that this morning and tested about 3 hours later and it is still 230. I expected some type of jump up, does it just take awhile to show up? Current test: FC: 2 (going...
