    Stair Gasket / Flange Removal

Structurally they seem sound. There is a bit of flex around the top where they meet the concrete if you step on that top lip. I don't really notice any spots that feel hollow or unsupported. Its difficult to tell the rate at which the water is lost because I'm not watching it as closely when...

    Stair Gasket / Flange Removal

Here are the pics. The water level is a bit higher than it was because I ran the hose in it when I found the water so low. Initially I wanted to get it back up to support the pool cover, but decided to shut it off and try to repair the leak before bringing the water level all the way up. It was...

    Stair Gasket / Flange Removal

Thanks for the response @jimmythegreek . Do you have any experience using any of Anderson Manufacturing's products, specifically the Flexible sealer or the pool glue that I listed above? I was considering trying one of these products and running it along the entire length of the flange and...

    Stair Gasket / Flange Removal

I've got a persistent leak around my in wall stairs. During the colder months when my pool is winterized, my water level drops to the lower, horizontal flange of my stairs. At that point, it stops leaking so I know that the leak is at that level. The only break in the liner at this level is...

    New to underground pools

Where in Maryland are you located? Near Southeastern PA/Delaware? I had in inground with vinyl liner installed 3 years ago for $24K. My pool builder was very reliable. I do have one issue with the pool. I've got a pin hole leak somewhere and it has leaked since installation. I lose a few...

Do I Need to Add Anything? Why is CH So High??

doesn't sound like you are testing properly. you should be swirling in between drops on the CH test. as far as your CYA goes, you will need to get some in the water. If you are chlorinating with trichlor, eventually the CYA levels will come up but you should really get some CYA into the water...

    Chlorine Jug Transport Idea

I use 5 gallon jugs to store my chlorine and I use one of these. Hand Siphon Amazon has them as well - Pump I just pump out whatever I need into a 1 qt measuring cup and then pour it into my bucket or right into my pool. Just take the siphon to your pool with you and pump some water through...

    Test, tweak, and SLAM

Just to be certain, are you following the Chlorine/CYA chart (link in my signature)? If your FC was 10 and CYA is 50, your SLAM level is 20. With a 12,000 gallon pool and 8.3% bleach, you should have added 1 gallon, 1 quart and 2 cups to be exact (according to PoolMath).

    Pool Guys

Peanuts, I'm no expert on pool maintenance. I found this forum a few years ago when I had my pool built because I had never cared for a pool before and I wanted to be able to care for the pool I invested so much money into. After reading through pool school several times, browsing countless...

My water looks like Lime Green KoolAid

This is not recommended TFP practices. TFP recommends adding chemicals based on valid test results. The first step in clearing your pool should be to read pool school several times and invest in a proper test kit. Once you get valid test results, you can start balancing your water based on...

    Leak suggestions

Thanks for the reassurance Pat. I just wanted another opinion or some possible suggestions on something that maybe I missed or hadn't thought of. It's been extremely frustrating for both myself and the pool builder. Like I said, I really don't want to consider the legal route considering how...

    Leak suggestions

Hello all, hoping there might be someone that could make a suggestion that I haven't already looked at. This is my third season with my pool. The pool itself was installed in the fall of 2013. Once the liner was set, my pool builder had water trucked in to fill the pool and immediately...

Equipment to blow out lines and technique

i'd also vouch for the cyclone. I purchased mine last year for closing. its well worth the money. The cyclone basically pays for itself the first year if you compare it to what it costs to pay a company to close your pool. I invested in the cyclone after I tried my leaf blower, shop vac and...

    Green swamp

I don't have a salt pool, but it would be easier to SLAM with the lower CYA level. Once the SLAM is complete, you can raise your CYA. You can SLAM at either CYA level though, you just might use a little bit more bleach if you raise the CYA now.

    No Chlorine in pool

Soloman, just to be clear, have you read through the SLAM procedure? Its not a one or two time spike in your chlorine, you will need to bring the FC up to shock level for your CYA and maintain it there until you pass the three criteria for completing the SLAM. You should be bringing your FC up...

Good to know. I have begun to really regret even getting that cover. I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. I've noticed every time I test my water when the cover has been on for a few days, my CC's are elevated. I thought that maybe my cover had algae on it and that was the reason for the elevated numbers. Not to high jack the thread, but are these elevated...

    We just want to swim!

If you are adding enough bleach to get you back to 12-14 FC each time you've tested, then yes, you are on the right track. The trick here is the "M" in SLAM, which stands for Maintain. You want to maintain that 12-14 FC as long as you are SLAMMING. Thats the only way the water will clear up...
