Need help: replace water or not after algea cleanup?

So long story short, several things went wrong over the winter and I found myself faced with a very green pool. After a few days of slamming the pool, brushing, and running the pump 24x7, it is starting to clear up. My question is whether or not I should replace the water once it is fairly...

    Murky water after cleaning filter

Little confused here. Per the Chlorine / CYA chart FC for 100 CYA is 39. Per the pool calculator FC for 110 CYA is 26. That's a big difference. Am I using the pool calculator incorrectly?

    Murky water after cleaning filter

Sorry it has taken so long to respond. I have finally received my TF-100 testing kit for properly testing my water. In the meantime, since I didn't know exact levels, I added 25 ounces of 8.25% bleach on an almost daily basis. This was based on my estimation that CYA was in the 80 range and...

    Need help using TF-100

Using 2 scoops of R-0870 did the trick. My FC is 35 and CC is 0.5. Now I have to get an accurate reading of my CYA which I know is above 100. I will do the 50/50 trick. Thanks for the help.

    Need help using TF-100

I followed the Chlorine Drop Test instructions in the TF-100 kit. Reading the link provided by Charlie_R, maybe I need to add another scoop of R-0870 powder. I will try that. Also, how do I test for CYA that's higher than 100? I can't seem to find a post on that.

    Need help using TF-100

I just got the TF-100 kit and started testing my pool that has been cloudy for several weeks. But I'm a bit confused. Per the basic test, total chlorine is above 5. When I do the Chlorine Drop test, FC and CC is 0. How can that be?

    Murky water after cleaning filter

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here and to pools in general. We installed an above ground pool last summer and it's been trouble free until recently. I realize that one of the prerequisites here is to have a good testing kit. Unfortunately I've only been using those test strips. Maybe out of...
