Overnight change to autumn - time to close pool quick!

Yep, NWMNMom,..I can hear you. I also am waaaayyy up north in minnesota and decided Sunday afternoon that it was now or never!! Jumped in the pool, at an incredibly cold 65 degrees to brush the bottom and sides of the pool. (Afterwards went to go and get in my hot tub already run and couldn't...

Recommendations on what type of filter to buy ASAP plz~

Thanks for the suggestions! Having trouble finding the particular ones that were suggested though. Did find the Pentair ta60, I think. Runs around 473.00 for just the filter. Did find a Hayward Pro Series 21" with a 1 1/2 HP motor for 21,120 gal, uses 200lbs of sand. (579.99) The next step down...

Recommendations on what type of filter to buy ASAP plz~

Just opened my pool yesterday. As soon as my sand filter came on I had a bunch of sand/algae? coming out into the pool which lay in the creases of the pool. Frustrating as this happened ALL last summer. Changed the sand and everything. Ok so my problem now is that I went out to add the bleach...

    What's your current pool temp?

Up in northern MN. In the process of closing, water temp is about 60. About two weeks ago I jumped in to brush the pool. Water temp was 64, kind of stings at that temp!

    polyquat?

Just ordered some 60% Algaecide:polymer from poolcenter.com. Is this the same as the "polyquat" everyone is talking about? I want to close my pool soon and use the BBB method instead of the winterizing kit I used last fall. (although I did open to clean water-not green or anything!) I have...

    Winter covers, pros and cons

Yes, I would like to know also. I cannot for the life of me decide which type of cover to order. The mesh is sounding good but then I really need to order a leaf net also, right? Water temp today is 62, I would like to close it up soon being that I can't use it anyway.

    Pool Rover Jr. for AGP

I bought a pool rover this spring and love it. Except there is one thing you should be aware of. If you get alot of leaves in your pool you should also order the mesh bag (for leaves) as the bag that comes with it is for smaller particles only. When we took our cover off this spring...

Rain and cold weather.....I've about had it!!!

It did! I wanted to swim today as the outside temp felt a little warm at around 65-70 (maybe). But the pool temp was 63 degrees and I think at that temp I'd have a hard time shaking the shivers after I get out!

Rain and cold weather.....I've about had it!!!

The warmest my pool has been all summer is 76 degrees! Born and raised up here in NE minnesota, I can handle it, feels kind of refreshing the few days we had over 80 degrees! :-D

    Sandy colored algae???

I ordered the TF 100 test kit online. I do have a question though. I was checking online for test strips and found another link(pool solutions.com) to read about pool stuff. I read somewhere that if I have a Nature 2, which I do, that I should not be using the BBB method and that I could...

    Sandy colored algae???

I added about 2 cups of the ph up stuff and it went up to 6.8 which is still low. Unfortunately I ran out of strips. I checked Walmart (our only store!) and of course this late in the season all they have are the strips which I KNOW are very inaccurate due to previous experience with Walmart...

    Sandy colored algae???

I suppose it could be. I live in Northern Minnesota in a small town and live in a culdesac, nowhere near a majorly traveled road. The air is very clean up here I think, compared to the big cities. But it is an idea. So do you notice the stuff in the bottom of the pool only after the pump comes on?

    Sandy colored algae???

I don't know but the consistency in the aquabot filter bag is not sandlike. :|

    Sandy colored algae???

I don't have a dirt road nearby, and it has been happening all summer so I don't think it is dirt/pollen (could be though). Funny thing is, last summer when it started happening it seemed that when I backwashed the filter it cut it down some for awhile,..not so this year,..and we even...

    Sandy colored algae???

Thanks!! I will try what is recommended. I am off work this week on vacation and for once this summer we are having weather in the 80's so I hate to bring my chlorine levels up so high as it takes so-o-o long for them to return to normal range. I will try nonchlorine shock and then the real...

    Sandy colored algae???

My pool is a 27' 17,000 gal. above ground. We just moved here last July so I am not sure how old it is..maybe 3-5 years old?? I have Pentair Meteor sand filter-model 22, uses 150lb of sand. I have a Pentair Dynamo 1.5 hp pump-I run it about 12 hours at night. I am also using a Nature 2...

    Sandy colored algae???

I have had a problem with what I thought was sand on the bottom of my pool since the end of last swimming season. So this spring we bought new sand from a pool place and we replaced the sand in the sand filter. We checked the laterals and they seemed fine. Sand (?) has still been coming back...
