Sanity Check on VS Pump Replacement

Thanks for the link to the spreadsheet! That is some serious info in there. I'm still working on figuring all that out. Also looking at the Pentair pump as well. Looks like that might just be a much more straight forward solution. Another (possibly dumb) question. My current Zodiak (Jandy...

Sanity Check on VS Pump Replacement

Hi folks. I currently have a 115 volt 1.65 HP (1.5 HP X 1.1 SF) single speed pump that is serving my 18,000 gallon pool. I have 2 each of 2" supply and 2" return lines coming in/out of the pool via 3 way valves at the pad, and the pump feeds a sand filter, SWCG, and heat pump. Because I just had...

    Hayward pool pump problem

I just had a similar problem with my pump. I discovered the GFCI breaker was tripped one day. It would trip the breaker the instant I tried to reengage it, even with the switch to the pump off. I took off the wiring cover to the pump and found some dust and other junk inside. I suppose it had a...

A lazy man's journey back to a TFP

I have a few year old, vinyl, in ground, SWG fed pool. It has been super easy going for the most part and I've been an avid follower/learner of the TFP. I even use my TF-100 kit as my go to indicator of health for my pool. Until this year when I got lazy... Upon opening the pool, it had started...

SWG Data, data and more data.

Hi. My name is Brian and I’m an Excel addict. When I got my SWG I decided to start tracking pump run times, SWG %, chlorine levels, etc. The intent was to just figure out the ideal operating times for my setup. However, I keep adding more and more data points to the equation and have found some...

    Good vs Bad Neighbors

This is a funny topic. I live in a neighborhood with half acre lots. Needless to say... neighbors pretty close. We have neighbors who were really good friends (pseudo family) for about 6 years until we went to put a pool in and they (mostly she) freaked out and basically said how horrible and...

New Pool Pilot Digital Nano+, Wiring ?

Thanks everyone. So I suppose the bottom line is that either approach is technically ok. I think leaving the plug/cord intact might not be a horrible idea.

New Pool Pilot Digital Nano+, Wiring ?

Hi. Have had my new Nano+ purchased from the SaltPoolGuys running for a couple weeks now. Talk about a breeze to order, install, and get up and running. All I'm doing now is tweaking pump run times and SWG output %, and enjoying sparkling, clear water. Here's the question. The unit I got is the...

    New pool owner in Maryland

Sure thing. I used Pro Pools of Hagerstown MD. I'm not sure how far they travel for installs. They are a local business here in Hagerstown and not a chain store, if that matters to you. Baltimore is quite a haul though. With the summer rapidly coming to an end I will admit I was anxious during...

    New pool owner in Maryland

Updated test results: FC = 1 TC = 1 pH = 7.5 Alk = 120 Calcium = 115 CYA = 23 So my CYA is coming up ever so gradually so I'm not touching it. But I am boosting my chlorine levels in the meantime. Thanks again for your advice!

    New pool owner in Maryland

Yeah... I got a thing of test strips in a gift basket from the pool company and have quickly found out that they are useless. I think MAYBE they can be a ballpark indicator to tell you when you need to call the pool company out or go get properly tested. I will most definitely take your advice...

    New pool owner in Maryland

Thanks for the feedback. The pool company did a test on my levels shortly after start up. I know the CYA is low and I'm going to run another sample over there later to see how we're tracking. I'm torn on how to proceed without overreacting to anything. Your advice is good on the "insurance" FC...

    New pool owner in Maryland

Hi. Just got a new pool finished and have been enjoying it and this website for about a week now. It's a custom L shaped vinyl inground. 3 ft shallow to 5 ft deep. It's not for diving but a real fun play pool for the family. So far the water is great. Crystal clear and holding. I'm only running...
